Tribe vs. Tigers (Series Thread)

wes_mantoothThe Perez thing is comical. He is so sensitive...so why read tweets from a bunch of idiots? Anyhow, why is Rayburn so hated by Detroit fans? I heard Hammy or Manning make a comment about it the last time we played the Tigers. He doesn't seem important enough to be hated..lol

FootwedgeIndians schedule is brutal over the next 10 days.
-
WallyI always kind of liked Raburn, but I know a lot of Tigers fans hate him because he plays April and May like he is the next superstar…then in August and September he can't hit his way out of a paper bag…and Leyland kept playing him day after day.

Raburn has a 260 lifetimew batting average...which isn't great, but I've seen worse. He's been playing over his head as has a few other Indiand so far.Wally;1445951 wrote:I always kind of liked Raburn, but I know a lot of Tigers fans hate him because he plays April and May like he is the next superstar…then in August and September he can't hit his way out of a paper bag…and Leyland kept playing him day after day. -
TBone14Tonight will be interesting. Scherzer's number vs us are not nearly as good as I thought they were.
Tigers are 7-5 in Scherzer's 12 starts vs Cleveland. He is 6-4 with 2 NDs. In those starts he has an ERA of 5.17 with a WHIP of 1.458
Kluber has 3 starts vs the Tigers. ERA of 8.04 and WHIP of nearly 2. Numbers are skewed a bit from his start 11 days ago where he was charged with 8 ER and gave up 11 hits, 2 HR, 2 BB vs 4 Ks.
His prior two starts (both in Sept. 2012) he gave up 4 ER over 5 innings and in his win he gave up 2 runs over 6 innings.
So who the hell knows. Could be a wild one. Getting to the Tigers bullpen is always key. They are very inconsistent right now. -

This. Right now getting into a 'shootout' with anyone doesn't concern me. We're swinging the bats well and our defense has been stellar. I like our chances anytime our starters can get through the sixth inning, because imo, we have one of the best bullpens in baseball.TBone14;1446008 wrote: So who the hell knows. Could be a wild one. Laley23Getting to the pen has been the approach all year. We have 3 of the top 15 hitters in pitches seen per plate appearance.
Reynolds
Santana
Kipnis
Not to far behind, and I suspect will make it 4 near the top by the end of the year, Swisher. -

Probably the same reason Drew Stubbs is hated by Cinci fans....the fans expected, or were led to believe those players were something more than they are. I like both Raburn and Stubbs....but I'm not expecting them to carry the team.Anyhow, why is Rayburn so hated by Detroit fans? -

My company will be there tomorrow too although I won't be attending. I asked if I could give the ticket away but they won't do it.ohiobucks1;1445612 wrote:I'll be in attendance weds. Roll tribe. -

No doubt. Swisher comes from that Oakland A's/Yankees approach of working the hell out of pitchers. Swisher strikes out a lot because he hits with 2 strikes a lot. He has a great eye and plate discipline and walks a ton. I think he is either teaching this approach or rubbing off on guys. Even Cabrera looks a little more disciplined at the plate even though he hasn't found his groove yet. There are still times when Swish will jump on a 1st pitch fastball but more time than not he making guys throw multiple strikes in an at bat and lots of pitches. -

I expect Kluber to be inconsistent, because young pitchers often are. I expect both Kazmir and McCallister to have their bad days too. What'll determine whether these guys will have good years, is how they bounce back from those bad outings.TBone14;1446008 wrote:Tonight will be interesting. Crimson streakThis is probably klubers last shot to stay in the rotation. If he has a bad outing I expect Bauer to take his spot or Myers when he comes off the DL. So it's a big start for him.
-
TBone14No Swisher tonight. He was placed on the Paternity List. He must remain on the PL for 1-3 days.
-
vball10setHere we go!!!
-
TBone14Looks like Kluber has been alright. Miggy is on a different level right now.
-
TBone14Close the book on Kluber. I didn't get to watch but the line is good.
6 and a third. 8 hits, 3 runs, no walks and 8 Ks.
Solo homer to Dirks and a 2 run homer to Cabrera who is smoking hot. Glad they are only in town for 2 with the way he is swinging. He can win ball games by himself.
Scherzer must be dealing as well. Need to get to him. -
SonofanumpWell I've never seen that before. Santana was standing straight up. Prince swung at a pitch that was at his eyes.
-
Laley23I had a feeling we would lose both. Didnt want to say it, but the match-ups were not in our favor. Maybe we can get to JV againa and Ubaldo will stay hot. Surprised Kluber did as well as he did.
-
Glory Dayssucks we they had kluber going today, he has no chance against detroit. correct me if i am wrong but masterson hasnt faced them yet correct?
-
SonofanumpNot sure how I missed this the first time, it's explainable, but funny:

They have a 90% chance of it being a 50-50 proposition, There...you can kill 4 hours deciphering that.Sonofanump;1446364 wrote:Not sure how I missed this the first time, it's explainable, but funny:

Yeah, I've got a bad feeling we're going into a mini-slump....and I don't like this team as much w/o Swisher in the lineup. Definitely need a good outing from Ubaldo tonight moving into our series with the BoSox.Laley23;1446357 wrote:I had a feeling we would lose both. vball10setThe way we play tonight will dictate how we play in Beantown. It'll be tough to get some mojo going if we get beat up again, so we need to score some runs and have Ubaldo do his thing.
-
TBone14Ubaldo spots Verlander a two run lead.
Running out of adjectives for the way Miguel Cabrera is hitting the ball. -
TBone14Ubaldo hot garbage tonight. Spots DET 2 in the first. Offense rallys for him and ties it but the Tigers knocking him around for at least 4 more in the 3rd.
