Mike Vick Wins Courage Award, Accepts w/ Humility

  • Strapping Young Lad
NOT!!!!! Vick's teammates unanimously voted him the recipient of the 2009 Ed Block Courage Award. Vick says: "...nobody had to endure what I've been through".

The guy from the Jags is paralyzed and in a wheel-chair, for God's sake!!!!!!!!

    Way to be humble Vick.

Mike Vick, you are a piece of work.

A piece of work? More like a piece of shit.
  • 2quik4u
Vick deserved it for everything he went through, what a great guy
  • iclfan2
Vick shouldn't be receiving any awards. Courage for what? Killing defenseless animals by hanging and electrocution? I agree with the sentiment that he served his time, etc...but he still shouldn't get some bullshit award for courage.

Everything that is wrong with pro sports is epitomized in the Michael Vick "story". This is just another chapter.
  • Strapping Young Lad
The award is so subjective, as it's vote don by teammates. Desean Jackson is having a great season despite losing his father to cancer only a few months ago, but hey.

The thing that makes Vick more of a piece of shit is that he says no one has had to go through the things he has. Even the guy in the wheelchair, paralyzed, was far more humble. If there was one recipient who could say 'I deserve this award' it would be him.

    But of course.... Mike Vick.

The award is given to one person on every team. It's not as though Vick got the Jaguars award. They have one to give out too. It was only for the Eagles.

No shit, but you don't find it telling that this guy from the Jags who received the award was far more humble despite obviously having overcome the greater obstacle???

If anyone had the right to come out and say "yes, I did deserve this award because of all I've been through", it is the guy in a wheelchair.

But of course everyone else who recieved it was very gracious, very humble. Only Vick the dick was the one to say something like " nobody had to endure what I've been through". No one else came up with a quote like that. Me, Me, Me.

News flash: the dude who will never walk again HAS BEEN THROUGH MORE!!!!!

Like I said it's not the fact theat he got the award, it's the fact that he would come with the attitude "of course I deserve an award like this. Only I've had to deal with strife. No one else has suffered as much as I".

He probably shouldve went about that in a different way considering a teammate lost his father earlier this year. Vick is very fortunate that an NFL team took a chance on him and gave him a chance to earn good money but there are a lot of good people out there losing jobs every day but Vick is the one suffering???
  • King Curtis
Vick is and always will be a fucking cunt.
  • Hb31187
Some of you no matter what he does will always just hate him. Whats he supposed to say? He cant go back and fix what he did, he paid his time....But some people (strappingyounglad ect.) dont feel thats good enough and will continue to bitch about him. Get the fuck over it lol
  • Hb31187
And lol whats he supposed to say? I got this award but maybe the EAGLES should give their award to the guy on the Jags too? I mean lol damn i guarantee if Jackson had said this about his father dying of cancer and nobody having to endure what he did...youd of not said a damn word.
  • LeagueMVP
Vick forgot - Jesus suffered all for all . . . of us.
Vick should get the Steve Urkle "I got lucky award" sponsored by Trojan condoms maybe he would be humble then. lol
  • I Wear Pants
I think he meant nobody on his team had been through more. It's a bit more accurate in that context.
  • trackandccrunner
I don't really care that he won it its up to his peers Although I really feel that Desean Jackson was much more deserving.. His dad died before training camp due to cancer and Jackson dedicated this season to him and hes having a great season at that. But what really erked me about all this was what Vick said: "I've overcome a lot, more than probably one single individual can handle or bear," Vick said. "You ask certain people to walk through my shoes, they probably couldn't do. Probably 95 percent of the people in this world because nobody had to endure what I've been through, situations I've been put in, situations I put myself in and decisions I have made, whether they have been good or bad."

I Wear Pants that is Vick's quote and Im pretty sure he wasn't meaning just his teammates.

    You're right.

Anyone who DELIBERATELY kills defenseless animals for the thrill of it is a piece of shit and deserves all the hate and scorn they get. Forever.

I don't give a damn if he served his time -- he's still a piece of human garbage.
  • Hb31187
Lol you just called about 10-20 huddlers minimum a p.o.s^^^^^

    Isnt it hunting season? ;)
  • Elliot Stabler
I in no way agree with what he did...

but EVERYBODY deserves a 2nd chance
  • Al Capone
This award like many the nfl hands out is completely bullshit.

    No they don't.

    Hitler deserved a second chance?

    Mao?

    Stalin?

    Pol Pot?

    Gacy?

    Dahmer?

The list can go on and on, and include people who killed far less than those.

Hahahah you're comparing killing dogs to slaughtering people, genocide and so on? common now
  • Swamp Fox
I wouldn't go so far as to say that Michael Vick is an advocate of genocide. I would simply observe that he involved himself in a "business" that regularly and wholesaley slaughtered animals who were no longer useful in the dog ring or were so torn apart by the savage activity they were subjected to, that the only cost effective method of disposing of them was to painfully and savagely kill them. I am reminded of an old saying that my parents used to ascribe to that I also find very revealing. It goes something along these lines...(paraphrased)..."The way a person treats animals sometimes says quite a bit about how they treat people." In my own lifetime, I would have to say that this has been my general observation. (i.e. "For God's sake, they're just dogs, they're not people....") I'm sorry but in this marvelous free country we live in, you have the right to excuse him for what he did and let bygones be bygones but in Michael Vick's case, I will simply never be able to do that. The fact that he "served his sentence" doesn't change a thing for me. There are things in this world that there are no "do overs" for. Killing is killing, and for me personally, it's just not a laughing matter.

Like Writerbuckeye says below, is the NFL a right or a privilege?

Vick has the right to play professional football again, but I wish it was not the NFL.

Do you know how to read?

Take a look at what the poster wrote: He said EVERYBODY deserves a second chance. I gave him some prime examples that disproved that. It had nothing to do with Vick per se.

But Vick IS garbage and does not deserve a second chance in the NFL. The league can choose to have higher standards; NOBODY has a right to play pro football.

He should have been banned for life.
  • Hb31187
You should go protest against Leonard Little before you move on to Vick. If hes allowed back in...Vick should of been let back in as well.
