Tribe vs. Mariners (Series Thread)

  • Crimson streak
Tribe strikes first! Bourn is the only player in baseball that could have turned that hit into a double.
  • Crimson streak
Brantley with a 3 run homer tribe up 5-0!
  • TBone14
Brantley with a 3 run bomb in the 2nd. Made possible after a 2 out infield single by Bourne and a great AB by Kipnis to work the count full and then single. Brantley then with a bomb.

5-0 Tribe after 2....Tribe laughs at Cy Young winners

Okay JM, the hard part's done (scoring runs off of King Felix)...now get out there and do your thing

Another gem for Masterson. 7 shutout innings. 11 Ks. 3 hits. Over 105 pitches. 6 run lead. Probably done for the day.

This team is fun to watch and it's really starting to look like they have staying power... The offense is complete, the SP is coming around, and the bullpen is great as usual...

I was at the game Friday and the atmosphere was amazing. First time seeing a walk off homer in person despite being to a ton of games.

I was a "walk up" customer too friday night too. Took the 2 kids and woofed down 3 hot dogs on dollar dog night. Tribe had no baserunners for 5 innings. Then a walk, a botched pickoff (first baseman couldn't get the ball out of his mitt), an infield bleeder and then Kipness' bomb.

Don't know who our pitching coach is...but that guy needs to be signed to a long term contract. It's not just Ubaldo that has done a 180. Right now we have 4 solid starters...can't believe I just typed that.

It's a long season, but optimism is running rampant right now. Last year we had the worst first baseman, left fielder and probably third baseman in all of baseball.

Was at the game today. Awesome. Can't believe only 20k showed up. It was beautiful out and the marathon was in town.

I gotta admit...you're doin a helluva job. Keep it goin.

One thing struck me at the ballpark today...the large number of young people( late teens and early 20's).

Prior to, and early in the season, we were saying that this team's weakness was it's starting pitching, and that in order for them to contend Masterson would need to develop into an "Ace", and Ubaldo would have to "regain" what he once had. Most thought that a longshot at best.
....Well, that is exactly what is happening.

Saturday was only 17,000 and it was just as nice out.

Tribe due for a clunker from a starter. Kazmir already a walk and 3 hits 1 time through 8 batters.

It is nice when you actually expect to win games. They have to cool off a bit at some point but hopefully it isn't until after these next games vs the Tigers.

Was this game always scheduled for now or a weather date from earlier? Just wondering because noon on Monday isn't a normal time for a game in baseball.

Nope, just a 4 game series that fell on an odd set of days (Friday-Monday) Seattle plays in LA tomorrow, so that's your reason for the day game.

It's the same reason there are so many Wednesday and Thursday 12:05 games, but it's because it's usually a more conventional series that started on a Monday.

This year the schedule has a ton more 2 and 4 game series in order to make the balanced leagues/year long interleague thing work out. With that you get goofy ass series like this one

Afternoon shootout in Cleveland. The Indians have banged around the guys who were #1 and #3 in ERA in the AL over the last 2 days.

How can Yan Gomes get more PT? Let Carlos and Swish DH more and Giambi sit more? I like how he looks at the plate.

4-4 in the bottom of the 3rd...looks like we've brought the sticks again, eh?
