That btw is better than Dr J's dunks
I dunno I think dunking over HOF'ers like Walton,Jabbar,Magic is a little more impressive. Also I didn't see any foul line jump dunks IN GAME from Carter like I did from the Doctor!!!!! -

Since you and many others have went off topic.........The original question for this topic was "was the NBA better in the 80's, 90's, or 00's"...........not athletes, strength, conditioning, dunks......etc.Hb31187 wrote: Athletes now>Athletes then....thast not really even up for discussion is it?
Players in ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL sports across the board are bigger, faster, stronger and more athletic -
Hb31187And i already gave my stance on that, Players now>Players then

I can only imagine the types of dunks we would have seen from DR J if he was allowed to play in the Olympics as a Pro.Hb31187 wrote:

Too skinny. If he tried any of that shit in this NBA, he'd be broken in half and you can take that to the bank.Skyhook79 wrote:
Yeah there weren't any athletes in the 80's. Most of these are from when Dr J was well past his prime.sleeper wrote:

So basically dunking is the only thing in basketball? I still want someone to prove that the new age players play fundamental bball, and defense as good as the 80-90's.Hb31187 wrote: lol do you know wh y us "young pups" think the old timers cant do some of the stuff that the new age players can do?
For example, MJ dunked from the fouline(big deal back then)....Welllll.....Vince Carter jumped OVER a 7 footer, James white put the ball between his legs from the freethrow line ect ect. The Athletes, the training, the technology and the early age at which players are being molded now are all superior to the 80's. Stop hanging on to your pipe dreams that your childhood heros would hold a candle to the new age

Good thing he made that dunk, otherwise he would have been one of the biggest waste of talents ever.Hb31187 wrote:

RotinajLebron would eat larry birds lunch and give him a Cleveland steamer after.

Heelz^^^ WOW! lol

newarkcatholicfanThe players now are bigger, faster stronger, jump higher and are filled with tattoos but better basketball players they are not.
-
Hb31187What do tattoos have to do with anything?
And if the players of old were smaller, less athletic and slower......how exactly were they better? Fundamentals?
Well lets look at Princeton's D1 basketball team...text book fundamentals and offensive sets...and theyre a perennial basketball power right? They tear up those bigger stronger faster more athletic and tattood(cant forget that) basketball teams ilke UNC and Kentucky ect dont they -
jpake1I think the league is better now, although I will fully admit, I'm 22 and have only seen highlights and word of the years before I. I would take a dream team of the 80's over the guys this decade now, I know that much. I think there is something to be said about the style of play too. Back in the day, they were much tougher and liked playing the game that way. Anymore these days, they want to cry about every single call. If the guys of this era played that style of ball, they would have an epic meltdown like the Lakers/fans did the other day.

Lebron would go curl up in ball if he took a clothesline from Kevin McHale like Kurt Rambis did. The way Lebron likes to dance around during the game he would have taken quite a few clotheslines from players back in the 80's.
