Reds vs Fish....Game 4

  • Ironman92
    Homer pitching.

    Bruce is 1-10 when I start a thread with 6 K.

Just saw that Hanigan went to the DL with a strained oblique.

Corky Miller got the call up to be the back-up catcher.

    Corky!

This is it. Mesoraco can take the starting job and never lose it again. He's got his chance...
  • Ironman92
Doubtful.....I bet with Dusty that Meso could be the player of the month in the NL and Hanigan would come back and catch 3/5 of the games regardless of his hitting woes.

Dusty is the most loyal manager in the history of the world. If Dusty was managing back in the 20's for the Yankees, no one would've ever heard of Lou Gehrig, and his disease would be called something else.....Taverasitis or something prolly.

Homer looks like he didn't warm up.
  • Ironman92
Itzturis had him at 3rd but went to 1st
  • Ironman92
Bailey get down 3-0 to the lead off, gives up a roped double but gets each of the next 3 hitters to chase about 5 pitches out of the zone and he gets out of it.

He may not look back now.

Choo plunked for the 8th time

Took the safe play, but put more on Homer, but he came thru with the K, then a 2nd K for good unnecessary good measure!

But gets erased before Votto's resulting 1 run blast!
  • Ironman92
X hits into a DP on the 1st pitch and then Votto HR on his 1st pitch.

Hopefully we're getting the Votto of old now... Would be nice if Bruce could get going soon as well

That ball was shot and he was plenty deep enough to get him out. That is not a difficult play when the ball is received so quickly.....though it may have helped get Homer to focus.

    Getting greedy!

I hope so too. I didn't see the game yesterday. Did Votto look like a changed hitter like he did on today's blast? It wouldn't have taken much for him to look better than Friday night.

Jay Bruce leading the league in at bats while batting 5th tells me that he refuses to walk....he can't have very many.
  • osu45804
Jay Bruce has now struck out in 25 of his 77 plate appearances, that's 32% of his AB's
  • Ironman92
Yep....he just struck out on ball 4 and now has 25 whiffs in 77 AB with just 7 walks.
  • Ironman92
Error on BP but they won't give him one.

Yeah, they gave him a hit. I watched the replay 3 times and just disagree.
  • Ironman92
Valaika singles and a run scores.....SHOULD be unearned, but it's not.
  • Ironman92
Yep....good call by Welsh should be in the dugout now.
  • mhs95_06
Homer had to get 5 outs that inning before he got to the dugout. Non regulars Izturis and Mesoraco not about to take any chances, and the chief chance taker makes an apparent E on one he doesn't need to take a chance on!

It would test Hannahan's footwork and glove work if the runner makes it as tough as he can by drifting to the right to make that throw go as far as possible to the outside of the bag, and then cut left sharply with a fade away slide to the inside of the bag.
