Marlins at Reds - Game 2

Azubuike24WTF. It's almost like Votto's eyes are messed up. That 0-1 swing was...pathetic.

Him throwing 94 mph is zero reason why he can't be a starter. -

It is. His 94 is VERY hittable because he isnt comfortable going to secondary pitches -
Ironman92Terry Tate sucks.

Azubuike24TT did his duty. Time for a new 4+ game winning streak.

Him not getting comfortable with other pitches is THE reason. -
mhs95_06Reds on track to outscore the Marlins in the series by 14-8, but lose the series 3-1!

But since hes not, he cant pitch 94. 94 is relevant. ..period. -

He can pitch 94.....but he can't throw it where he did. He has to Al Leiter/Tom Glavine the zone. -
Midstate0197 up in the zone and thats a k. 94 amd its gone.

He's gotta know if it's going to come out 94 or 97....I think he underestimated the hitter and didn't let it fly and it cost him. I'm not sure 3mph strikes him out or he fouls it off deep into section 138....but I feel if he throws it 3 inches higher he gets a pop out or lives for another pitch. -
Ironman92I hate the set up by Hanigan also....he set up right smack in the middle and Chapman threw it waist high.....I do not believe 97 or 99 gets an out on this location in a hitter's count.
-
Azubuike24From my understanding, Chapman still doesn't call his own pitches. Ever, unlike a few of the other guys on the staff who have complete control (with Hanigan). Neither does Hanigan, at least 100% of the time. It comes from the dugout for Chapman. Now, I'm not saying this is bad, but there are some games where Chapman is about 20% above the capability of any other pitcher. The nights he hits 100-102, nobody touches him. If they put it in play, rarely does it do damage and rarely can a team get more than 1 hit in a row.
However, many other times, like tonight, he needs to get up there and pitch. He can't rely on throwing 95 past a guy 5 straight times. I feel the calls coming from the dugout assume the "freak" Chapman is always out there, even when his control might be shaky or his arm it a bit dead. They need to adapt. Let him throw more sliders. Just the fear that he could throw it 100+ is going to get him an advantage before the first pitch of an at-bat is thrown. -

Too late -
Azubuike24I'll take another turn here soon, but I'm planning on at least a 5-game streak. Terry Tate is the first to take a 2nd run, and it was a 5-game run (4 wins).

Terry_Tate6-2 for the year so far. Not too bad.

At least before it becomes a major pain to go back and track. It's a long fucking season... -

Ironman92I'm 0-1 and fittingly enough it was Dusty worst game blowing a big lead to the Pirates. Had a 5-0 lead in the 7th and Broxton is left in while being horrible the whole time, walking 3 and giving up 6 runs. Bruce was 0-5 with 3 K also.
