is he considered the best of all time?
  • Trueblue23
This thread is the dumbest of all-time.

    IF so probably yes.

Bill Russell has 11 Rings so no
  • devil1197
Russell also isn't considered the greatest of all time.

Bill Russell played in the 60's against a bunch of white guys

Kobe has a chance to be the greatest ever. Only way he gets there is if he plays considerably better than MJ did down the stretch of his career. He may end up being the most productive. And even if he plays 3-5 more seasons than MJ, I don't know if he's the greatest to play.

    Nope, but definitely top 10.
  • Mr. 300
His name will be mentioned in the same sentence as the all-time greats.

We will never have to worry about Kobe Bryant winning 7 championships. He might get one more, but he won't get three more...

So I guess they should just throw out all of the records from the 60's and 70's on back? And Is that why the NBA's Finals MVP is now called the Bill Russell award?
  • burt07
    Won't get there.

I was just merely pointing out that Bill Russell was playing against inferior talent.

Yea after they win this year all the core players will be back they will be the favorites next year to.

That cockiness is why I would laugh if Kobe or Gasol tore ab ACL.
  • HiddenGems
If so yes I feel he will be considered there or right there.

Although I am one of the guys who feels that MJ is not the clear cut best ever. Oscar,Kareem, and Wilt were dominant from statistic perspectives and Bill won the most.

Just because I give my opinion on a subject about the NBA and it involves me brining up the Celtics I automatically accused of complaining. I was just bringing up discussion about Bill Russell and how someone was saying b/c he played in a different era the stats and accomplishments don't matter. Also I always get singled out b/c I think there are maybe 2-3 Celtics fans on this site including me as compared to numerous Lakers/Cavs fans. It's all in good fun though Go Celtics!

Like Nate Thurmond, Willis Reed, Wayne Embry, Walt Bellamy, Bob Pettit, Jerry Lucas.
They only had 9-12 franchises at this time.
