MJ suing a grocery store

Jordan himself is a brand, and he has to protect that. So I see no problem with the lawsuit. And I'm sure friendly talks were done previously with the grocery store blowing him off.

Well, I agree that the stores do not have the right to use his name and likeness to their benefit without permission. But you'd think you'd let some of these things go when you are rich and famous and someone is trying to honor you.

But where do you draw the line?

I'd sue too, and don't act like it's Michael Jordan himself filing the lawsuit. But I'll tell you where you draw the line, you draw it around anything that you aren't sponsoring. That's how it works--so yes, really, the grocery stores are at fault. I'm glad to see this to be honest.

Make a few phone calls first and this is a non-issue. They should have known that.

Couldn't agree more. You think Nike pays him all that money for others to also use him image? He has to protect his image, because people pay for it. That's why he has to file the lawsuit. And he will win.

I just didn't think it warrants a lawsuit.. You would think a simple phone call would solve the problem.

Not if Jordan calls and says, "Please remove my picture from your ad." And they reply, "Screw you, we are leaving it up."

There is a special place in hell for Michael Jordan.

You're totally right. A simple phone call BEFORE they put the shit up.

I imagine his lawyers did contact the chain beforehand.

Have a friend who owned a bar and he got a letter from McDonalds Corp about their use of Mc. Told them to stop using it etc etc etc. They used ot have it posted in the bar years ago.

McDonals assumed they would just listen to them but they never did and they still use the Mc in the name.

Few eyars ago Iron City beer had to stop using the steelers and NFL likeness on their cans. They always did so honoring the team I believe the NFL came down on them and not the steelers...almost like they allowed it over the years...but im uncertain.
