Rays send sore arm pitcher to the Tribe

newarkcatholicfanMitch Talbot 26-year-old pitcher was limited to 10 starts last season at Triple-A Durham because of a strained elbow. The right-hander went 4-4 with a 4.47 ERA and was able to finish the year on a positive note by making two starts in the International League playoffs.

HereticUnless Talbot was highly regarded before last year's injury problems, this looks like a pure organizational depth more to give the team a AAA starter who (at best) could fill in if needed in a pinch for the short-term in the majors.

BigAppleBuckeyeAll kidding aside, I hear Talbot has some real potential. Here is a blurb about the trade (and Talbot) on MetsBlog.com:

HitsRusThat seems to be the Tribe's MO lately......pick up a guy "with potential" that has a sore arm. They may well be the experts in the league at rehabbing arms and pitchers. Is Tommy John still alive? we should hire him as strength and conditioning coach!
