Rays send sore arm pitcher to the Tribe

Mitch Talbot 26-year-old pitcher was limited to 10 starts last season at Triple-A Durham because of a strained elbow. The right-hander went 4-4 with a 4.47 ERA and was able to finish the year on a positive note by making two starts in the International League playoffs.

Unless Talbot was highly regarded before last year's injury problems, this looks like a pure organizational depth more to give the team a AAA starter who (at best) could fill in if needed in a pinch for the short-term in the majors.

    The next Lee/Sabathia.

All kidding aside, I hear Talbot has some real potential. Here is a blurb about the trade (and Talbot) on MetsBlog.com:

That seems to be the Tribe's MO lately......pick up a guy "with potential" that has a sore arm. They may well be the experts in the league at rehabbing arms and pitchers. Is Tommy John still alive? we should hire him as strength and conditioning coach!

The Indians gave up Kelly Shoppach. What the heck were you expecting? haha

Please tell me this is Fred Talbot's son. I hope he looks like a perch!
