James Harden Traded to Rockets!

  • IggyPride00
    Crazy!

He rejected a deal earlier today on a new contract and is already gone!
The Rockets in turn sent guards Kevin Martin, Jeremy Lamb & future draft considerations to Oklahoma City for Harden. The Thunder will send center Cole Aldridge, Lazr Hayward and guard Daquan Cook to the Rockets.

H Town will get over the hump and be a threat in the West.

    No they won't

Bad trade for the Thunder. Lakers have the West all about locked up.

I think it's a really good trade for okc. Martin is a scorer and lamb will be a very good player.

I want to say that. But I'm still not sure. OKC is still damn good.

Martin can really score....not sure if it's what they need though with Durant and Westbrook.

3 seed at best. Harden is too good of a piece to give up.

If he wasn't going to re-sign their hands were kind of tied.

That said, the story about his refusing to sign their 4 year/ $52 million deal came out tonight. Seems Presti could have maybe shopped around a little more just to make sure that was the best he could get. Seems kind of quick to have all went down.

OKC are still the #2 seed and third best team in the NBA.

    I suppose you are right.

In the grand scheme I guess part of me doesn't understand why if you are willing to go 4/52 you don't just do the 4/60 it would take to get it done, but on the flip side with the luxury tax those extra couple million probably would have been more like 5-6 down the road per year as the penalties ramp up.

Harden wants a max deal most likely. If that's the case, good trade for OKC. Harden is a not a max deal type of player.

    What is the max nowadays?

For him it was 4 years $60 million.

OKC was only willing to go 4/52.

This is a very good deal for both teams. Lets face it, Harden was not going to be around in OKC for longer than he had to. They liked him, he liked them, but he had "open to options" written all over him for 2 years now.

OKC got a good deal for him, not because it makes them a better team, but because his value was only going to decrease. We'll see how good Jeremy Lamb becomes.

Great post. I bet they were sad to see him go. But they might not have even made it back to the finals this year 'as is' so might as well blow it up, especially if he wasn't going to sign an extension.

Poor Harden, now he has to suffer with the OverLinrated Rockets.

LOL at Harden being worth a max contract. Is he even a top 25 player in the league???
  • Ironman92
4 years and $52 million would be hard to swallow.

A chance to win a championship and $13 million a year.

    Hope he enjoys Linville.
  • SportsAndLady
^^Can't really fault Harden though, if you're confident someone will give you a max deal, why wouldn't you leave and add an extra 8 MILLION (I know it sounds small when you compare 52 mill to 60 mill, but it's still a shit ton of money and a huge difference in the contract) to your net worth?

I think it's a good deal for both teams as getting a young Jeremy Lamb can turn out to be a huge asset if he turns out to be pretty good. I just don't know if a scorer (K Mart) is what OKC needs though, which is my only concern w/ this trade.

thats what im saying man! a 4 year deal with 52 mill on the table and a chance year in and year out to compete for the NBA championship.

so with that said he opts for the 4 year 60 mill with the rockets who i don't see going ANY WHERE.

while i don't blame OKC i wish he would have stayed. good man to have off the bench minus the finals last year.

Absolutely. I put him top 15, he can play the 1 or 2, gets to the line more than almost anybody and shoots the ball very well. hey lot of people like him better than Westbrook
  • gport_tennis
He also was on the gold medal Olympic team this year so he is definite top 25

    Where does Lamb get minutes?
