Just saw that come across my phone. I'm assuming Browns fans are happy. (You don't say!)

I knew it was inevitable. Haslem wants his own people there and there hasn't been enough progress to warrant him stickin around.

I am, however, sick of the constant carousel known as the Browns front office. We need consistency to do anything.

New Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam, whose takeover of the team was officially approved Tuesday, will name Joe Banner the team's CEO/president and current president Mike Holmgren will depart the organization within 24 hours, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Ed Werder.
Haslem has a news conference scheduled for noon and will announce the Banner move, the sources said. It is unknown if Holmgren's status will be addressed at the news conference.
Haslem will close his deal to buy the Browns with Randy Lerner on Oct. 25 but these changes will take place before then.
Holmgren, the former head coach of the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks, joined the Browns on Jan. 5, 2010. The 64-year-old Holmgren officially had the title of team president. He was instrumental in the hiring of current Browns head coach Pat Shurmur.
Haslam bought the team from Lerner for $1 billion, and the owners voted 32-0 Tuesday to approve the deal. Haslam, who built his fortune with Pilot Flying J truck stops, has been a minority owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, but divested that stock to buy the Browns.
Haslam and Lerner agreed to the sale in August just as training camp was opening. Haslam has said his mission is to bring winning football back to Cleveland; the Browns have made the playoffs once since returning to the NFL in 1999.

I love the move. Shows no job is safe, especially one mired in incompetence. The Jimmy Haslem train towards respectability has officialy left the station.

by my count that's two wins in three days for the Browns.

NFL GM's are also at the League meetings today, but Heckertt is not there.

Grossi said in no uncertain terms Heckertt is gone as well at this point.

Can't say I'm sad to see any of them go.

They had total freedom to do whatever they wanted with Holmgren as defacto owner and in year 3 we are still only on pace for 3-4 wins coming off of 5 and 4 win seasons.

In the NFL it is very easy to go from rags to riches in that period as the rest of the league manages to without needing a 5 year plan just to get to .500% which is basically the direction it was going.

I hope both Heckertt and Shurmur both realize the reason they are going to be fired is because they wasted too much time and showed no sense of urgency.

From the get go it was "we're going to take our sweet old time" because we know Randy won't fire anyone. There was never accountability along the way, and their were too many excuses.

They are in a "what have you done for me lately" business, and they clearly just didn't get it if they thought it was acceptable to still be a double digit loss team in year 3 of their rebuild. That is a fireable offense, and it is why they will all be looking for jobs next season.

Pete Prisco ‏@PriscoCBS Mike Holmgren out in Cleveland. Some NFL people think he wasn't there much anyway.

This is why im glad Lerner is gone. Such a pushover pussy. If i was owner and noticed my president was gone all the time (which I would notice), i would fire his ass.

All I've got to say is that if Heckert is out, Banner sure as fuck better bring in a competent GM. If Banner decides to make the personnel decisions we will be set back to the Carmen Policy/Dwight Clark days. Banner is strictly a salary cap guy.

not a moment too soon. Good riddance Walrus. Hopefully Heckert and Shurmur won't be far behind him heading out the door.

Haslam doesn't play. Confirms holmgren out at year end and banner in.

Mary Kay Cabot ‏ @ MaryKayCabot # Browns GM Tom Heckert, who's drafted well, not optimistic about surviving this ownership change, league source told me. Changes after yr.

These guys actually laid the trap for their own demise because Haslam/Banner and such saw how keeping Mangini for a year was a waste when they should have just brought in the guys they wanted.

Banner/Haslam are not going to waste a year trying to make the holdovers work like Holmgren did.

I think they clear house immediately at the end of the year and hit the ground running with their guys.

The fan base will sour quickly if out of the gate Banner/Haslam decide to keep Heckert/Shurmur next year and we are still average. Then we are firing everyone, and having that God awful "second first year" again like we did with Holmgren last year that went over like a led balloon with the fans.

Just come in, fire everyone, and get going in a positive direction. No more trying to fit square pegs in round holes because it is not fair to so and so. The NFL is a big boy sport, if the browns were on pace to win 10-11 games with the playoffs in sight neither Heckert nor Shurmur would be going anywhere. That they aren't is their and Holmgren's fault because they had complete run of the kingdom as Randy may have been the most hands off owner in the history of the world.

Change one can believe in for sure. But being a Browns fan all of my 51 years has taught me whomever we have in place as a GM/Head Coach should be given some time to get this thing going.

This constant change of emphasis from defensive minded coaches wanting a grinding running game for our crappy Ohio weather, vs west coast offense guys, or whatever the flavor of the day is currently is in the NFL is oh so tiring.

Hopefully, it appears Mr. Haslem has the business background, business confidence, and football operations experience learning from the Rooney's of how to get things properly done, and that he will hire the right people and let them do their jobs, while they are still being held accountable.

Only thing I know for certain that has not changed, is my love for the Browns... Go Browns!
