I'd rather go a full game up on the homefield advantage through-out the playoffs!SportsAndLady;1258275 wrote:Sucks the Reds aren't playing today so they can't go 9 up on the Cards. -
Midstate01Why? What's the point. Gt the number 1seed means playing your first two games on the road in the playoffs! Stupid!!!

The Reds have the best record at home in the MLB. The NL has home field in the World Series. Given the top 2 rotations of other playoff teams, I'd rather teams have to play more at GABP where it's more wide open and the bullpens play a bigger factor. This is big time advantage Reds.Midstate01;1258359 wrote:Why? What's the point. Gt the number 1seed means playing your first two games on the road in the playoffs! Stupid!!! -

But your first two playoff games will be AT the wild card winners place. Just saying getting number 1 doesn't gain much. Regardless the nl has home field in WS. -
Azubuike24I understand, but lets say they can steal one with Latos or Cueto. They go back to GABP, against the opposition's 3rd and 4th starters, at GABP. Given the Reds pen and if the offense is 100%, I like their chances.
For instance, if Strasburg is shut down, Zimmerman and Gonzalez are gone in 1 and 2. If you can beat either of them, Edwin Jackson or Detweiler at GABP. If it's Atlanta, you got Maholm or any of their other starters, probably Medlen? For the Cards, Westbrook and Garcia. Dodgers, Harang and Blanton. Giants, Vogelsong and Zito.
I know Bailey and Arroyo aren't strong, but the Reds would have a big advantage in games 3 and 4... -

I'm with ya ompletely!! I just hate the concept. -
Azubuike24Agreed. It's far more valuable anyway in the NLCS, given that they won't see Washington until then. Could get Atlanta in the NLDS.
-
mhs95_06Both the #1 and #2 seed will have the first two games of the best of 5 series on the road. And I'd rather have games 3,4,5 scheduled to be at home than just the first two. Then the two 7 game series you get games 1,2,6,7 scheduled at home. NL gets it already for the WS, so the open item, pending somewhat of a collapse or a very hot streak to fall to #3 seed(a 6 game lead for that now), is the NLCS, and I'd much rather have the home field advantage in the NLCS, than rooting for the Cards to decline into oblivion.

So much for them bringing him up and letting him learn a new position on the job haha -

It was a bold prediction by myself, I still think he would be useful on the team, even in CF.jordo212000;1258983 wrote:So much for them bringing him up and letting him learn a new position on the job haha

Ironman92Yeah....and if it's crunch-time in the playoffs and we're pinch-running Mike Leake or Miguel Cairo I'll prolly get bant.
