On the nose, 0/5 for each of them! Rest of the position players 9/23 with all 5 runs scored and all 4 RBIs. OK they may be key defenders, but they don't need to hit #1 and #2! They were the only two Reds in the game who got 5 plate appearances!

The 15th time in August Stubbs has made 4 or more outs in a game.

Dusty says wait your turn, rookie of the year.

    Dusty is such a chode.

OKC should bench Durant...he's got the whole world in front of him. They shouldn't push out Nick Collison.

Why just Durant? Might as well make Harden and Westbrook wait their turn too.

Id have loved to been in that press conference and been like so are you going to make cozart wait his turn behind valdez? He has such flawed logic that it'd be like taking candy from a baby.

Granted Valdez isn't nearly the player Rolen is, but Dusty's logic is dumb. Frazier is way too big a part of this team to bench him. His defense may not be AS good as Rolen's, but it's not far enough off to let Rolen play over him. I like Rolen, but he's just not consistent enough. Frazier has to be in the lineup if this team wants to do well in the playoffs.

When Votto comes back at least one of them will slide to the end of the lineup, preferably Stubbs.

    Phillips
    Cozart
    Votto
    Ludwick/Frazier
    Bruce
    Frazier/Rolen
    Stubbs
    Hanigan
    Pitcher

Ideally Hanigan would bat 2nd but you know sure as shit that that ain't happening.

Yeah...who'd want a guy batting .290 with solid power who seems to thrive on regular playing time actually being on the field more than 2/6 games?
  • Rotinaj
If bakers refusal to change the lineup causes us to blow in the playoffs he better be gone. His reasons for all this dumb shit are mind numbing.

I mean, I hate complaining because they're the best team in baseball. How much better could they be with a more logical lineup, though?

Here are the top 6 offenses in baseball (was going to do top 5 but Angels and Rockies both have 607 RS) and the OBP of the top two guys in the order.

    Rangers: .340 & .364 (666 RS)
    Red Sox: .385 & .337 (642 RS)
    Cards: .384 & .375 (632 RS)
    Yankees: .363 & .360 (624 RS)
    Angels: .403 & .344 (607 RS)
    Rockies: .330 & .364 (607 RS)

    Notice a trend?

And here is what the Reds top two are doing.
    .287 & .288 (571 RS)

With those 2 batting 1st and 2nd I'd honestly rather have Votto hit like 8th than 3rd. At least then hell have a shot at some RBIs.

Oh yeah, the Reds have resorted to posting passive-agressive stuff like this from their twitter account recently.
Cozart 6, Stubbs 8, Phillips 4, Bruce 9, Frazier 5, Heisey 7, Cairo 3, Navarro 2, Latos 1. Dusty's lineups have produced best record in MLB.
Yes, the team is good. Great, even. That doesn't mean certain things are above criticism.
  • Rotinaj
If Dusty were to give a single legit reason as to why he hits cozart and Stubbs there then fine. Them fucking having the best record in baseball is not a legit reason. It actually just makes whoever says it look like a damn retard.

The offense is not what is contributing most to the Reds being good or even great. Starting and relief pitching along with defense are the areas well above the mean. ERA is tied for 2nd of 16 in the NL in a hitters park, defense 3/13 based on errors(better than that when you figure the balls they get to), and runs scored 6/16 in a hitters park. Lots of room for improvement there for offense and the manager and hitting coach could have it a lot better.

That looks good. I'm figuring Frazier will play 3rd today, 1st Friday, not start Sat, and 3rd on Sunday. Remember Dusty always says they have to be careful not to play Rolen too much as he'll break down. So if Rolen starts more than 50-60% of the Sept games, Dusty is really messing up. Frazier needs to start at least 60% of them, some at 1B for Votto, and maybe a couple in the OF. If Cairo gets any starts at 1B the rest of the year, or is on the post season roster(assuming there are not infield injuries the rest of the season), the Reds are messing up.

Cairo should be the odd man out when Votto comes back. I love the guy and really appreciate all he's done the last few years, but he is not a major league baseball player anymore.
