18-0 Saints Vs 18-0 Colts in Super Bowl
-
FootwedgeI posted this on the old huddle about 2 months ago with half tongue-in-cheek. Now, I believe it could very well happen, provided the Saints get past the Cowboys this week at home.
It's true, teams have rested vets in week 16....but not when an undefeated season is on the line.
The hype for the Super Bowl would be incredible if this scenario actually pans out. -
alwaysafanStatistically this has little chance of happening. Even if each team has a 50% chance of making the Super Bowl (which is much too high IMO), there is only a 25% chance that they both get there.
I think the Patriots and Broncos could unseat the Colts; and the Vikings could take down the Saints. For their record, I do not think either team is THAT impressive. The Colts have squeaked by all year, and the Saints have been doing the same as of late. One of them will not make the Super Bowl. I see Colts vs Vikings. -
BigAppleBuckeyeThe Chargers will win the Super Bowl this season ... you heard it here first. Or maybe not haha

bigdaddy2003Colts aren't going to the Super Bowl and neither are the Chargers although I give the Chargers a better shot.

sleeperNo.

killer_ewokI actually don't want it to happen. Sure, the hype would be tremendous and it would be quite the spectacle. Historic in every way. However, it would be somewhat anti-climactic IMO as you already know that there will an undefeated team regardless of the outcome.
I would rather these teams meet in the Super Bowl but with one of them having 1 loss and the other being undefeated. -

I disagree. If it's going to be these teams, why not have both be unbeaten? Not only would a Super Bowl be on the line, but arguably the title of best professional football season ever would be on the line. The stakes would be so high as one team, despite being 18-0 and being mistake-free all year, will not only lose their unblemished record, but go home with absolutely nothing to show for it except 2nd place.killer_ewok wrote: I actually don't want it to happen. The Super Bowl is big enough...but this would be epic. I don't care either way whether it happens, just saying that I don't necessarily agree with your reasoning on how it could be a bad thing. -

Are the Ravens??? Youve been talking the Ravens up all year and the Colts down all year, but youve been as close to 100% wrong as you could have been so far.bigdaddy2003 wrote: Colts aren't going to the Super Bowl and neither are the Chargers although I give the Chargers a better shot. -
mtrulzNot gonna happen.

CardsFlyinHighNow that it looks like my Jaguars may end up on the outside looking in, I would give my right arm to see this in the Super Bowl. It would be the biggest football game of all time. And finally, someone can finally shut up Mercury Morris and the 72 dolphins.

That's fine. You're entitled to your opinion. My point of view is that it would be anti-climactic if both were undefeated. The element of wonder/surprise would be gone. I understand what you're saying though. Just a difference of opinion.Azubuike24 wrote:

lol I haven't been talking the Ravens up and the Colts down. The Ravens haven't lost because of lack of talent. They sure have found other ways to lose but it's not lack of talent. Don't be fooled by their record they will be in the mix. The Colts are a good team but very beatable.Laley23 wrote:

hoops23Before the season started, I predicted a San Diego - New Orleans Super Bowl.. I'm sticking to that.

NateI hardly watch the Super Bowl anymore because it seems like it last 5 hours with all the commercials and piss poor half time shows but if the Colts and Saints both make it, I will not be missing it. It has the potential to be the most meaningful and best game in the NFL ever. 2 18-0 team's battling for the Super Bowl?! How much better could it be? (Only if it were Tom Brady vs. Brett Favre I suppose in ESPN's case.)

Yeah, I guess counting the Colts totally out is a little bit rash of me. They certainly have a shot.Laley23 wrote:
