Wimbledon Finals

Usually don't pay attention to tennis, except for major finals, and this time we've got a doozy on the men's side. Federer (in his record 8th Wimbledon final) will take on Murray (the first Brit to reach the men's finals in 74 years). I'll be tuning in Sunday to see what happens.

Except he's from Scotland. They'll only consider him a Brit if he wins, otherwise he's a Scot.

Scotland is part of Great Britain..nevermind, you edited your post. Maybe so.

Federer has a chance to tie Sampras's all time mark of weeks at #1 if he wins (he regains the #1 ranking for the 286th week). It would also be his 7th Wimbledon, which would tie him for that record as well.

With Rafa at 11 majors, Roger needs to get any one he can to pad his total right now if he wants to keep that record for more than a few years.

Couple that with the Murray angle and there is alot on the line for both guys in this final.

Pretty excited. Not sure Andy has enough to match Fed though. He is playing extremely well right now. The Joker played pretty pedestrian today, so maybe not a great example, but 4 sets...rather easily...tough to do versus the world #1.

It seems as though when Nadal went out, Federer got excited. Looked a little nervous in the next match(es) but since then, has looked unreal. If his back gives him no issues, I see a 4 set win for FedEx.

For a player as great as Roger, it still amazes me that he has allowed his mental block with Nadal to reach the level it has. The mere sight of him practically paralyzes the guy anymore.

You are correct as far as his excitement level going up when he was out. Reminded me of that 1 French Open he got when Rafa was knocked out early.

Rooting for murray in this one. Would be cool to see him win it and to see the crowd's reaction.

I think it'll go five sets, with Federer winning 6-3 in the fifth...should be a helluva match, though.

I'm rooting for Agassi! Seriously though, I used to really get into tennis, but he US is absolutely void of good tennis players, especially on the mens side. The Agassi/Sampras battles used to be epic.

Two of the best returners in the game. Federer has the definite edge serving though, imo. Murray has a lot more pressure...or at least he has pressure he isnt accustomed to. Crowd will be behind Murray, no doubt, I just dont see that effecting Rogers play at all. I think itll be tight, but 4 sets with Roger winning one 6-2 or 6-3 (double break).

Sick of hearing "when will a brit win wimbledon" so i hope murray wins so the media can stfu about it next year.

Avg ticket right now going for $5,400. $1,000 more than the highest average Super Bowl.

Then you are missing out on an incredible time in tennis

    Fed express rolls on.
On a side note, his chick is not hot.

I know the talk has been about the men's final, but the women's final is turning out to be a decent match after Serena dominated the first set.

Not void of good talent, but McEnroe/Connors/Lendal/Becker time frame was much more exciting for me.

Kate is still hotter than Pippa ;)

Federer is playing at such a high level. Unreal

Murray isn't playing bad at all its just Fed is playing that much at a higher level.
And Murray needs some new kicks hes sliding around like they are on ice.

And then crying about it. Just like he did with his shorts earlier in the tournament.
Quit being a baby, you picked out with you're wearing.

Oh and Andy's girl is not ugly.
  • wildcats20
    This one's over.

Back to number 1 for Fed.

What was his problem with the shorts?
    Making Fed serve it out.
