Ryan Braun's 2012 season

  • gorocks99
Obviously the well-publicized case of Ryan Braun's positive test and subsequent dismissal cast a huge shadow over his 2011 MVP season. But when you look at his numbers for this year, they're as good (if not better) than last year.

    2011:
    150 GP, 33 HR, 111 RBI. .337 BABIP, .994 OPS

    2012:
    68 GP, 20 HR, 52 RBI. .322 BABIP, 1.011 OPS

So, for you, does his performance affect how you view the test results and his defense? Or do you still think he was juicing last year?

I think he was taking PEDs - but I'm on the side that doesn't care if an athlete takes them.

All you kept hearing was how hard he worked before the 2011 season....looked to be paying off! He already signed the huge contract before all of this. His results came back like 8x higher or something crazy that they say really isn't possible....whatever the case most will believe he did and since he's doing so well they will believe he's finding a way around it and that since he has been very good since his call-up that he has always used them....that's how most will think.

You might find 2 on here that says he's clean this year.....I believe he's clean. He started out like crap this year and they were saying he is missing his juice.

I honestly don't blame anything athlete for taking drugs to stay healthy, preform well, and make as much money as possible.

looks like a good baseball player to me.

I wish they would just release what the hell happened so I can make an informed decision instead of a speculative one. He's an awesome player regardless and a fellow member of the Tribe

    Brauns a cheater.

I like him. He seems trustworthy and thus I dont think he juiced

    hope this helps.

I think he is clean. I think a lot of these guys are consuming stuff (eating, supplements, normal diet, whatever) that comes up as positive, when in reality they arent really cheating. I dont think anyone who is a solid MLB player post 2005 or whenever the shit hit the fan is dumb enough to go out and cheat on purpose. The guys who I think do it on purpose are the career AAAA players, guys trying to prolong their career, or guys trying to make the bigs somehow. Braun has absolutely no reason to cheat in todays MLB, so I dont know why he would.

Have you seen why he got off the 50 game suspension? I thought what happened was he tested positive, but the guy administering the test took it back home with him because he had to overnight it and the FEDEX guy was already gone, so he went to a FEDEX store by his house (hence, why he took it home). Since he took it home, the results were thrown out.

If that's true..and I'm pretty sure it is..there's no way he's clean lol just got off on a formality.

What's he on this year? You know he's being watched very closely and he's surpassing what he was doing last year.

    Probably the same shit.

It's "random" testing, so he will never be tested again.

Random does not mean ever....ask Manny.

I thought once you were caught, you get tested more.

Who said anything about this year?

He was clearly positive last year when they tested him..then got off on a formality.

Oh but since he's putting up good numbers again this year, we'll just ignore that little tidbit.

Did you read all of what I wrote? I think a lot of guys are taking stuff that is banned, but not on purpose. Also dont think what they are taking is making much of a difference. What these guys are now testing positive for is far from the stuff McGwire, Canseco, etc were injecting.

Well...he pretty much was cleared due to a technicality in the handling of the sample. That was what his side was fighting. They werent really fignting that he didnt do it. Kinda like a DUI lawyer fighting that the stop was illegal and therefore the DUI should be tosse.d

So Braun was just trying to up his sperm count? Nothing to benefit him athletically? Lol

I hate Braun I hate the brewers...dudes a cheater just got off on a formality.

Okay, let's say I agree with you.

Braun is a cheater. He got off on a formality and now he's under more scrutiny. He's putting up similar-to-better numbers this year. Was what he was taking a benefit to him athletically?
  • gorocks99
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he say he was taking herpes medication?

It sure was...steroids isn't just a 1 year thing lol you don't JUST benefit when you're taking them.

Regardless..whether or not you're currently on or off steroids, if you've tested positive before, you're still a cheater.

Never heard that..and not sure if it's true or not..but in my mind Braun now has herpes

I just read about a pitcher who was in the majors up until the early 2000s in Sports Illustrated who said the opposite, I believe. He would use all offseason, start the season great, but then the longer he stopped using them, the worse he performed. It was a few weeks ago.

I don't see how steroids last year would help him all that much this year.
