Best Sports Team

  • Commander of Awesome
After the Dream Team Special, I've heard many say they're the best team of All Time. I can see that I suppose, as they were great. If I were going to think of just NBA teams, obv the late 80s Celtics and Lakers team come to mind. Early 80s 76er teams were ridiculous as well. If you're not familiar go take a look at those teams (80-83).

In the NFL the Browns from the 50s, 85 Bears, and the 07 Pats come to mind.

What do you think are some of the "best teams" in sports?

'72 Dolphins and UCLA mens basketball between 1964 and 1975, they won 10 championships in that time, and the 1985 Edmonton Oilers, IMO.

UCLA had a stretch where they went 205-5. So, that.

As much as it pains me, the 2000 Ravens were pretty good.

From the NHL, '83-'84 Oilers came to mind for me in terms of offensive firepower.

    Top Scorers (all HOFers)
    Gretzky 87 G 118 A 205 Pts
    Coffey 40 G 86 A 126 Pts
    Kurri 52 G 61 A 113 Pts
    Messier 37 G 64 A 101 Pts
    Anderson 54 G 45 A 99 Pts

    57-18-5
    446 goals (NHL record)

And actually, their whole run from 81/82 through 85/86 was stunning. Most goals in a season by an NHL team (top 5 all-time):

    446 83/84 Oilers
    426 85/86 Oilers
    424 82/83 Oilers
    417 81/82 Oilers
    401 84/85 Oilers

I'll add to the Alcindor/Walton era of UCLA basketball.

I would also suggest the Celtics of the same era.

90's Chicago Bulls. If Jordan doesn't retire the first time, I think they go more than just 3 straight.

Some of the Miami Hurricanes football teams had absolutely ridiculous talent.

Steelers of the 70s.....again..>SBs AND full of HOFrs

BR mentioned Balt. Yeah..they were good tht year but I think they lacked offensive firepower to be able to be put into the best of category.

2000 Ravens were the best defense I have seen outside of the 02 bucks.

Not as good as the Bears mentioned earlier, but damn good.

That Ravens D was the best I've seen in my lifetime. Was 7 in '85 so not old enough to remember that defense but have seen highlights and heard former players and analysts sing their praises.
