Tribe @ Reds: Game 3
-
se-alumReds down 2-0 already.
-
BRFFor guys who were talking sweep, why so late with the thread?
No sweep. And I would have said that before Choo socked one out of the park, too. -
se-alumHeisey and Cozart w/ back to back singles to leadoff the bottom half. Joey up.
-
slcoachJOEY!!!!
And just like that! -
se-alumJoey decides to give the Reds the lead w/ a 3-run bomb. He's good.
-
BRFI'm dining on some crow now.
Geez! -
HereticIt would be nice if Cleveland could do something today, considering Pittsburgh's dropped two to the Reds in the standings in two days. It'd be nice if they could do something today, too, but that's for later tonight.
-
Azubuike24I was going to start the thread since the Reds were already down. Couldn't be accused of jinxing it.
However, Tomlin is terrible and so is Leake. 2 runs isn't going to win... -
Terry_TateJoey Votto is unreal. So good at baseball.
-
Midstate012nd strike to meso almost touched the ground... Terrible
-
RotinajYea that 2nd strike call on meso was definitely shit. Also, VOTTO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
justincredibleA few days ago Jon Heyman tweeted about how Andrew McCutchen might be the leading NL MVP candidate. I love McCutchen, I'd love him in CF for us, and he's definitely A candidate. But LOL. Votto is #1 and no one is even close right now. His rationale was McCutchen leads the Pirates in every offensive category. Given their offense that isn't that impressive. That said, yes, he's having a great season. But Votto is on a different level.

Heretic
I'd begrudgingly agree. McCutchen might be more valuable TO HIS TEAM than Votto (at least Joey has guys that actually provide offensive support), but Votto's having the better year.justincredible;1199700 wrote:A few days ago Jon Heyman tweeted about how Andrew McCutchen might be the leading NL MVP candidate. Azubuike24Votto is by far the best player in MLB this year. He's clearly the NL MVP...
-

I smile when I think about what this lineup would be like w/ Votto and Josh Hamilton in it, then a tear rolls down my cheek.Azubuike24;1199707 wrote:Votto is by far the best player in MLB this year. He's clearly the NL MVP... -
Azubuike24AVG - 2nd
OBP - 1st
SLG - 1st
OPS - 1st
Runs - 6th
Hits - 4th
Doubles - 1st
HR's - 8th
RBI's - 4th
Walks - 1st
IBB - 1st
What's crazy is how high he is in the "counting stats" when he is walked so much and on a team who is below average in every hitting category as a team.
To be 4th in hits but also lead the league in walks is amazing. -
Azubuike24For instance, the last player other than Votto in the NL to lead the league in walks was Prince Fielder in 2010 and he finished 35th in the league in hits.
In 2009, Adrian Gonzalez led the NL in walks and finished 34th in hits.
In 2008, Adam Dunn led the NL in walks and didn't finish in the top 75 in hits.
From 2003-2007 (minus 2005 by 2 walks), Barry Bonds led the NL in walks and never finished in the top 50 in hits.
In 2002, Bonds' amazing season where he hit .370, he was still 40th in the NL in hits. -
wildcats20DatDude!!
-
Midstate01When we get leads, we do this wayyyy too often. Phillips homers and it's STILL a 7 pitch inning. Too much first pitch swinging!

Everything is legit except for the Bonds comparison....he was leading the league in walks by almost 100.....that's it's own category. -
Azubuike24Well yes, but the point is, it's almost statistically impossible to lead the league in walks and be that high up in hits...but nobody is ever going to touch Bonds' numbers, roids or not.
-
slcoachLeake seems to have gotten it together. Still feel like its going to take 6 or more to win this one for the Redlegs.
-
Azubuike24Tomlin is on his last leg. First 2 on in the 4th and is going to have to face Votto with ducks on the pond. He won't get through the 4th...
-
RotinajLeake should hit 7th when he pitches.
-
Midstate01Ugh bases loaded no outs. No need a Phillips hit or won't score a single run.
