How epic will the Celtics collapse be?

  • THE4RINGZ
In free agency not on the court.

Do Allen and Garnett return next season?

    Thoughts?

I think both are gone. It will be an interesting off season for them for sure.

I think if KG and Allen come back at the vet min. and you get Jeff Green, Wilcox, and Bradley healthy and maybe one or 2 solid FA signings, you make one more run at it...

Let's face it, the East is still pretty weak, despite the improvements. The Celtics took the Heat to 7 games so I think 1 more year with an infusion of some younger talent would be worth a shot... ONLY if Allen and KG come back cheap though.

This is their last contract. Don't think they'd play for league minimum. Kind of an insult really

How much are they going to be worth anyway? At this point, a shot at another championship has to be worth more than the money they've made in the league already? Who's going to give any of these guys 5+ million a year that can win a championship?

    Dallas? LA?

Doubtful. Dallas is going to be after Deron Williams. I doubt LA is looking to add more age.

^What he said. Make one last run at it. Trade a pick or both for some solid depth. I think Allen is more willing to come back for 3 mil quicker than KG should. Sign somebody else and if need be, sign KG to go into tax mode. A healthy Green is a big addition and with some more solid depth you can save the old legs until its needed.

There's a lot of contenders that would be willing to give KG 2 years at probably 16+. It's just a matter of who can. That's why I think unless a team gets quite creative he returns to the Celtics to retire there. Scary thought... I hope he doesn't go to the Thunder for the vet price.

I agree. KG still has some game. He could easily get 5M/year, for at least 2 years.
  • jpake1
I hate his guts, but I'd love to have him in Miami next year. Yeah-Right...
  • Azubuike24
I actually think KG would be a decent fit in OKC...maybe not the minutes or money he might want, but still.

    Pierce
    Rondo
    Bradley
    Bass(PO)
    J.Johnson
    Stiemsma

Those are the players under contract for next year. I think they will add a few more pieces and could sign both Allen(10 mill this year) and Garnett(21.2) for something significantly less.

Spurs? nah. Chances are the Celtics won't either. i look for them to reload. remember they were a 5 seed this year...

Look at this year. Both BOS and SA were "not elite" and took the heavy favorites from both conferences to the brink. Now, not to say that OKC and MIA will continue to be vulnerable either because these two teams could be starting a long string of Finals' match-ups. However, it's the NBA, you don't just give up and start over when you're this close.

SA won 20 straight and had the best record in the league. They were elite.

I think KG would be an incredible fit for Miami. Would provide needed toughness and a vocal leader. Not sure he would take less money, accept an even lesser role, and then sign with those guys

I think Allen is gone for sure. Not sure what happens with KG
  • jordo212000
P.s. the Spurs are going to be just fine
  • wildcats20
KG would be a great fit on any team.

    Hmmm....

KG on Spurs radar? IIRC, Duncan said he CAN'T stand KG. I hope they talk to Timmy first. If they do get KG though, I think they should be ok.
  • wildcats20
If Timmy doesn't like KG and they still pick him up....that's a HUGE fuck you to Timmy.
