Reds @ Pirates--Game 3
-
SportsAndLadySucks we are going to lose a series to the Pirates. No way we win this game, no flippin way.
Series loss to the Pirates, STL will win and only be .5 games back, and we probably won't hit any HRs.

RotinajReds lose 1-0. Bruce gets robbed of 4 homers.....By striking out 4 times...

SportsAndLadyFrom the game thread of Homer's first start this year..

Still not giving up though I can understand those who have. -
RotinajI wouldnt say we owe him an apology yet. 4-3 w a 3.7 ERA is hardly a big year. He does get quality starts and thats all you can really ask for.
-
Terry_TateI'm throwing some serious vcash on the Pirates. Money in the mythical bank!
Also, I really like Bailey as he's probably my second favorite player behind Stubbs, so I'm glad to see him really perform. He looks so much more mature now than when he started and I'd love to see him become a solid #3 or better. Hopefully he keeps this up and gets his era around 3.50 or lower. -
HereticShould be an interesting matchup.
Cueto's usually lights out against the Pirates, I think, but has been struggling a bit in his last couple starts. Burnett got shelled in one start, giving up 12 in 2-3 innings, but has been very good in the rest of his appearances.
Hopefully the Pirates can rebound from last night's debacle. -
thavoiceCueto is struggling mightily. I think he has options and after the game the reds will exercise one of them and send him probably down to Single A dayton after the buccos rail him today.

mhs95_06Got to see my first game of the season in person last night after a 1:57 wait. Going to the rubber game tonight. Nice to score 8 runs with no homers. Homer did a great job and I just picked him up in fantasy before the game as I did Sale also just before his 15 strike out game, so I am having good intuitions on good pitching performances.

Midstate01No votto today. Bruce in the 3 spot. Plus more at bats for costanzo!!!!
-
mhs95_06Based on his play in the 9th, I'm worried more about Costanzo being a liability on defense than offense.

I'll bite.
First....Homer is doing pretty well so far and he looks to be ready to keep it going.
Now.....it's still flippin MAY. Big year?
Here are his MLB rankings:
Innings 43rd
K 72nd
WHIP 50th
Era 58th
75 pitchers have as many or more wins than Homer. -

Cozart played a significant part in that play....he was a touch non-chalant and Morrison was busting it down the line and then Cozart rushed his throw. -

It's not a huge sample size, but WHIP and ERA suggest Bailey is good enough to be a #2 starter correct? Albeit one of the worst, but still. I think a big year would be top 30ish in each, or at least a sub 3.50 era, but it does show that he has had a nice year so far. -

Agree that Cozart was at fault also and that's why he got the error, but sitting right next to the Reds dugout watching Costanzo go to the bag and his footwork, and he seemed to shy away from the runner and pull his foot when he didn't need to to catch the throw, so I wasn't impressed. But I guess you know how critical I am of infield defensive play. -
Midstate01Terrible effort from heisey on that ball in the corner. Didn't hustle at all. Frazier picks him up with a great play.
-
Midstate01Cueto not missing a lot of bats lately. Escapes in the 2nd though.
-
Midstate01Constanzo sucks balls.
-
Midstate01Damn it Cueto!!

RotinajLol @ Cairo as a pinch runner.

I missed the first part of the game. Just saw he is 0-2. I will hit everybody with the quote again. Costanzo = bad.
I got it out of my system. Now we need Mooney to come rip us and defend Costanzo's honor -
Midstate01Burnett kept the ball down and got ground balls. The offense really dropped the ball tonight.
-
Midstate01Can't play down to your competition. Reds played great against the better teams then stopped in this series against a lesser team.
