I heard the news on surgery, then immediately thought of his "china doll" nic-name.

This. You know the sport is brutal when there are 60 year old men playing a variation of it.

It wouldn't be a Cleveland Indians baseball season without the obligatory Sizemore/Hafner DL stints. Ughhh

Yeah, between the slew of oblique "injuries" and pitchers not being allowed to go over 100 pitches in a game, it's become quite pussified.

The front office's claim that it "added depth" to the team in the offseason (even though they didn't get a RH hitter) will now be tested.

Now's the time to test LaPorta.

Gomez gives up 2 runs after getting the 1st 2 outs in the 4th.

Royals have the lead by 4-3. Tribe jumped out 3-0 with a 3 run 2nd inning.

5-3 Royals bottom of the 5th....

Man, our starting pitching has gone to the shitter in a hurry!!!

Sigh, they completely wrecked all the good they did against Detroit....and then some. Also, Lopez may have had the worst at bat in the history of major league baseball to end the game. Fuck this noise.
  • TBone14
    Much needed off day tomorrow.

Have to get right against the Twins. I'll be in attendance Friday. I'll start the thread in the AM and try my luck.

bases loaded and one out...DP. JoLo's BA slipping into the .250's
6-3 loss....Tribe got 10 hits, but like last night, only scored in 1 inning. Lack of patience, and poor AB's with men on base.

first pitch swinging after the guy had walked two and given up a single on a 3-1 pitch. That is little league shit....

Seems like our guys do it all the time.

Its one thing if you are Albert Pujols or Man Ram in his prime to take a shot and end it or drive one off the wall. You are Jose Lopez. Make him throw a strike.
  • Mulva
Jose Lopez has 0 plate discipline. The guy never walks. 145 in almost 4,000 career plate appearances. Which is why, as I pointed out on the last page, he has a career OBP of < .300. If the ball is within 2 feet of the plate, he's probably swinging.

Druby has done it twice. The first time, on opening day, probably cost the team a win.
  • grodt
It's funny how we can feel our team gets impatient, and I agree they do, yet they lead the AL in walks.
  • HitsRus
That patience seems to change when there are runners in scoring position. I don't know...can you find a split that shows the number of walks when runners are in scoring position?
  • grodt
We're 2nd in the league in walks with RISP, behind Tampa Bay.

^^^Thanks and reps. It seems there is a difference between reality and perception. Maybe it only seems a lot because the bad AB comes with the game on the line....or maybe it is just the odds being what they are....a good hitter only get a hit 3 out of 10 times.
