Reds Brewers rubber match

daveFrazier in left!
-
daveValdez at 3rd
If Miggy can't play 3rd he never should have been activated. -
thavoiceProbably wanna keep Miggy PH bat off the bench, and give Valdez some AB.s
LF needs fixed. Heisey has a good game the other day...2 extra base hits, and then sits the next day. Very frustrating.
3B.....i almost think that Frazier needs to start playing more..in LF and 3B.
Looks like Mr Baker is seeing if Frazier can do well in LF and hope rolens bat comes alive -
RotinajI think it's about time Bruce and Phillips switch spots in the lineup.

thavoicebut dusty wont put votto and bruce back to back.
Question for you reds fans.
Heard a stat the other day of the team W/L and ERA when Hannigan, aka pigface, starts vs when Meseraco starts. It is very signifcant. Soem of it has to do with whom Hannigan normally catches I think, but I also think some of it has to with him calling of the game and how he handles pitchers. LIke last night.....Meseraco let Bailey go early in the game when things started to pile up. He very easily shoulda called time and went out and spoke to him..settle him down...just break up the pace. You could tell HB was pressing and agitated -

And put lefties back to back?? I don't think that's legal?!?Rotinaj;1165955 wrote:I think it's about time Bruce and Phillips switch spots in the lineup. -

I was calling for more Meso early in the year, but it's easy to see how much better the pitching seems to be when Hanigan is calling the game, plus he's starting to hit enough to be the everyday catcher.thavoice;1165960 wrote:but dusty wont put votto and bruce back to back.

sherm03Good DP to get out of the jam there in the second.

thavoiceWIth Votto hitting lefties so incredibly good I just dont know why DB doesnt do it. It isnt like both guys cannot hit lefty and would make it a bad time late in a game and easy for an opposing manager.
-
daveHomer sucks no matter who is catching. I do agree Hanigan far better at calling the game and receiving.

Meso very well could become a good starting catcher, but Hanigan has been strong for the reds. Even in the past he was pretty clutch. Its hard coming up as a young catcher. The hitting, knowing the pitching staff, opposing pitchers, AND be the manager on the field. You will see Hannigan give out more 'teaching' gestures to the pitchers, call time to go out and talk to slow stuff down, than meso. He will get there, but this is a healthy situation to have. A good, young catcher whom the organization thinks alot of is a very motivating thing for Hannigan. I havent paid ALOT of attentio of whom catches whom, but I would like to see who has been catching who and teh results.se-alum;1165966 wrote:I was calling for more Meso early in the year, but it's easy to see how much better the pitching seems to be when Hanigan is calling the game, plus he's starting to hit enough to be the everyday catcher. -

HB has good enough stuff, and does JUST good enough to keep hmiself in the rotation, but not good enough to really be a tremendous asset. Said it before....dude is a snowball pitcher...dave;1165972 wrote:Homer sucks no matter who is catching. I do agree Hanigan far better at calling the game and receiving. -
sherm03I don't think you can blame all of it on Meso. I would point to the success of the bullpen no matter who is catching to show that most of the blame would be on the starting pitcher rather than the catcher.

daveHomer's numbers this year mirror his career stats. Right around a 5 ERA, 1.5 whip, 2/1 K/BB ratio. If he wasn't a top pick he wouldn't have a spot. That isn't good enough even for a 5th starter.
-
daveHopefully this becomes a bullpen game. Chapman, Ondrusek and Marshall should be able to go 2 innings.
-
mhs95_06Cueto's behind by about an inning on pitch count so the Brewers will probably need an inning less out of their bullpen.
-
justincredible
Before last night he had a sub-4 ERA.dave;1165981 wrote:Homer's numbers this year mirror his career stats. Right around a 5 ERA, 1.5 whip, 2/1 K/BB ratio. If he wasn't a top pick he wouldn't have a spot. That isn't good enough even for a 5th starter. -
Heretic
Well, today's not before last night, is it? IS IT?!?justincredible;1166037 wrote:Before last night he had a sub-4 ERA.
Seriously, Homer's the kind of guy who is still young (26), but has been around so long that it's easy to typecast him because he still hasn't really shown any consistency. He can be really good, but he often struggles with pitch count, gets shelled a bit too often and winds up in that "mediocre" zone because it seems like his overall numbers settle in the 6IP/3ER per game range. -
RotinajA couple runs this inning sure would be nice.
-
mhs95_06Johnny gets thru 7 with 104 pitches. He's due up 4th in the 8th. If there is a runner on first and two outs, does Dusty send him to the plate?
-
RotinajHave we hit a good pitcher yet this year?
-
mhs95_06
Reds scored 3 runs off Matt Cain in 6.1 innings and beat him with his 2.38 ERA for the year. It was Cain's shortest outing of the season, other than his very first at 6.0 innings. Other than Cains' first outiong and the one against the Reds, he has pitched 4 games going 9,9,8,7 innings with a 1.09 ERA. All four of those games were at SF. His first outing, when he gave up 5 ER was at Arizona.Rotinaj;1166072 wrote:Have we hit a good pitcher yet this year? -
se-alumStubbs scores from first on what was really a Joey Votto single, Phillips knocks in Votto. 2-0 Red Legs!!
-
RotinajNeed to get the win here!!! Also, why is it that Chapman isn't a SP?
-
thavoiceAs for hitting good pitchers............
Just like playing the top teams. You just hope to 'break even' against them, and then feast on the lesser guys. Top hitters dont hit 320 against the top pitchers...they USUALLY hit a bit lower and make hay on the poor pitchers.
I am worried about Chapman not coming back for the 9th..sounded like he was gong to come back if it was tied....i woulda b rought him back ou.t
