You act like Heisey is a world beater. That fly ball triple was not impressive. Really he's only got 2 great talents, bunting and pinch hitting. It's a shame he doesn't have more talent because he obviously gets it. He's this generations version of Ryan Freel.Ironman92;1162900 wrote:His first two hits should impress Dusty....but he could go 5/5 with 8 RBI and Luddy will be out there tomorrow.
Heisey will get two starts this weekend for 1 reason.....he's from the area....that's it -

I agree with the sentence that says Heisey "gets it". But the sentence comparing him to Ryan Freel, I disagree with. To me Freel was a text book case of someone who doesn't "get it".dave;1163196 wrote:You act like Heisey is a world beater. That fly ball triple was not impressive. I92's point, I believe, was a criticism of Dusty for playing people regardless to a fault in order to give them time to keep them happy and involved, and let someone who is hot sit, just because that is his plan. -
daveThe comparison wasn't about how they play, it was the way the fans love them. Their styles were obviously different, but I think Freel's all out approach was the only way he could make it in the league and I think it actually got him 1 big contract. He got it in a different way.
Heisey has never been hot, hopefully we will see him get there. -
Heretic
For whatever reason, Correia just isn't good at all at home. Although he wasn't TOO bad until getting dragged out for a seventh inning (probably because the bullpen has been worked kinda hard the last few games) and giving up the two solo shots.killer_ewok;1162937 wrote:Damn, Buccos lose 6-1.
Offensively, they had chances to do damage early, but just couldn't string enough together. And then Cueto really seemed to wake up and just dominated the final 4-5 innings. -

What the hell are you talking about? I'm saying that it doesn't matter what he did last night that Ludwick will be starting tomorrow AND no matter what Ludwick does that Heisey will start on Sunday. Why....because Heisey is from the area...not because he may or may not give the Reds the best chance to win.
My opinion on Heisey is this. Seems like a great guy...smarter than Freel (kept ball in front of him on a less than 50% dive and catch last night to keep runner to a single and out of scoring position when the Reds had a small lead) He seems like a guy that would go about 25 HR/80RBI/.265.....but will just never know. The only thing derived from his career is that he's a pretty good pinch-hitter.
I do not believe playing Chris Heisey will do much of anything to help the Reds.....but I have a problem with a player being assigned a "title" when they have never been given the consistent opportunities that most others get.
BTW....never cared much for Freel outside of his effort....but then his effort seemed to put teammates at risk. -
justincredibleRyan Freel was the worst. The love affair the city had for him made me sick. The comparisons to Pete were hilarious.

Ironman92The only months he has ever had more than 10 starts was Sept 2010 and Sept 2011. During those months he had 13 and 14 starts over the 27-28 game months.....that's the most opportunity he's ever had. For a guy who was their minor league POY....it's just odd IMO....and my biggest issue was Jonny Gomes had all the starts....he was proven awful....but was a vet,so he got the nod from Dusty.
Basically, every problem I have had just roots back to Dusty.
Go Reds WDD -
killer_ewokPresley FTW. Pirates win 3-2.
