Ironman92Rooting for Harris to have a couple bunt hits.
-
RotinajReds win 8-1. I refuse to predict a loss!!!
-
zach24ozWillie Harris leadig off and Stubbs hitting ahead of Mesoraco are good decisions...what had Harris done since he's been up? Why not have Cozart lead off and give Heisey a start in CF to give Stubbs a day off?

Stubbs had to have 160 starts and Heisey is only a PH. -
jordo212000I'd get Mesoraco out of the 8 hole too. Hard for a young guy to get anything to hit when the pitcher is behind him. I would have dropped him in the 5 hole today.
(lineup set with today 's starters)
Cozart
Cairo
Votto
Bruce
Mesoraco
Stubbs
Heisey
Harris (I wouldn't be playing him, but whatever)
Pitcher -
jordo212000Bailey throwing hard today

Mesoraco 5th? He's 2/9 this season and has a .188 average so far in his young career..he's gonna have to prove a lot more to hit 5th in this lineup.jordo212000;1144196 wrote:I'd get Mesoraco out of the 8 hole too. jordo212000"in this lineup"? You say that like the Reds have been the Murderer's Row this season. Typically I wouldn't hit him 5th, but with today's lineup I would. Meso can hit
-

Yeah he can hit...into double plays loljordo212000;1144204 wrote:"in this lineup"? You say that like the Reds have been the Murderer's Row this season. Typically I wouldn't hit him 5th, but with today's lineup I would. Meso can hit
The Reds have a top hitting lineup, they just have terrible approaches and coaching. No one should hit 5th if they haven't proven to be a productive hitter.
There's nothing wrong with hitting 8th, you still get up pretty much every game the same amount of times if you hit 5th. The whole "he's not gonna get good pitches behind the pitcher" is pretty stupid, imo.
You hit in the 8th spot and get on base a lot, you're gonna get the top of the lineup up with runners on base, which is what you want. -
Ironman92Reds have had 8 batters see a total of 16 pitches

1st it's really funny you are basing your opinion on one AB.
You are way off if you think the 8th hitter gets as many ABs as somebody hitting in the middle of the order. Just way off.
When you hit 8th and most of the time you get very little to hit or you get intentionally walked. Why would you give somebody hitting before the pitcher anything good to hit? -

Basing my whole opinion on one at bat? Can you not notice when someone is clearly joking?jordo212000;1144217 wrote:1st it's really funny you are basing your opinion on one AB.

Besides, my whole opinion is based on the fact that he isn't proven, so why put an unproven player 5th? What's the big deal with having him hit 8th until he gets some confidence? -
daveMesoraco is easily one of the 5 best hitters in this lineup. He should be put in a better spot to succeed.
-
SportsAndLady
That may be true..but the guy hasn't done shit at this level (yes i know it hasn't been that long, but still), you can't say that now.dave;1144223 wrote:Mesoraco is easily one of the 5 best hitters in this lineup. He should be put in a better spot to succeed. -
daveYou are looking at way too small of a sample size. Last year he was just learning how to catch all the big league pitchers anyway.
Even so, there are still only 2-3 proven bats in this lineup. -

I've ackknowledged it's a small sample size, i'm a huge Mesoraco fan, trust me.dave;1144226 wrote:You are looking at way too small of a sample size. Last year he was just learning how to catch all the big league pitchers anyway.

I also hate on Dusty for his lineups almost on a daily basis lol
But hitting an unproven 23 year old guy in the 5 spot just isn't what you want. Especially since he's not really hitting. -
jordo212000You also don't arbitrarily bat one of your better hitters 8th simply because he is a rookie catcher.
-

One of our better hitters? LOLjordo212000;1144234 wrote:You also don't arbitrarily bat one of your better hitters 8th simply because he is a rookie catcher. -

He is better than Valdez, Harris, Heisey, Cairo and maybe Stubbs.
Have you watched any film or followed Meso's career at all?
