    Thats true.

Put it this way, when you combine the corner (aka, power) spots in our lineup. We will be lucky to get 50 HR out of our regulars. Without looking at other lineups, thats pathetic.

Its one reason I actually preffered LaPort to Kotchman. At least he would accidently hit 20+ HRs with 400 ABs

We are bad....and I just don't see how they can be competitive. The best we can hope for is the team going up for sale
The CC trade was bad, but the Cliff Lee trade set us back even further.

I expect Ubaldo to be traded this year... Hell, probably even Masterson.

The Lee trade may be the worst ever. They didn't get shit for him, plus he had a year and a half left on his contract. this front office is the joke of the league....they aren't even trying.

Dolan is just worried about making money off this team and going into spin mode when reports come out about how much money he's actually operating with.

For as good as the Bartolo Colon trade was, the Lee trade was 2X worse.

Brantley is what he is. I think he is/can be a serviceable MLB player, but he doesn't have any elite tools.

Dolan is a shitty owner, but we have a shittier front office. According to USA Today our payroll is 21st in baseball ($78 mil). We're obviously at a big disadvantage compared to the top 12-14 teams in baseball, but we're right there with everyone in the 16-24 range. Teams 25-30 have payrolls $15 mil or more less than the Tribe.

It's just shitty contracts, shitty trades, and shitty drafts. Baseball America had 1 Indians player in their top 100 prospects coming into the season (last years #1 pick Francisco Lindor at #37). What has this FO done well in the past decade? The CC and Cliff Lee trades might be the 2 worst in all of baseball this century.

And I still think this is a 76-82 win team (because I believe in the starting rotation), but they have no shot to be a championship contender with the lineup that they'll be running out there every night, and it's not like it's an up and coming team with a lot of hot prospects for the future.

Whats more, is that we fucked up 2 trades in GETTING prospects....then proceed to possibly fuck up one where we are trading prospects. If Pomeranz pans out and Ubaldo is closer to 4.00 than 3.00 on his ERA, Ill be pissed.

The colon trade was good, but with Grady falling apart.....it isn't even as good as we originally thought.

The Indians need to clean house, starting with the FO. Shapiro was rewarded for his shitty drafts and subpar GM ability by receiving a promotion as team president. The fuck?

And now Shapiro's wing man, Antonetti, is running the ship as GM. SMH...

There is SOME talent here, but the lack of upgrades at the corners are killing this team offensively.

78-80 million truthfully is good enough to create a playoff caliber team, BUT you need to spend it right. Not by giving Sizemore 5 million or signing Kotchman.

If Ubaldo continues pitching well, he'll be traded. Book it.

That is thing....we gave up two big time prospects. If we trade him....what will our price be....a single A prospect?....smh
  • TBone14
Despite the eyes closed, look what I found mom home run he hit tonight, I would rather have LaPorta all day every day playing 1st base than Lopez vs lefties.

Which would just be a complete head scratcher. The whole positive on that trade was him being under contract. Then we did NOTHING to upgrade the team for this "window" we had. Now Ubaldo almost has to be traded if the Tribe is out early.

lol. Probably. A "legit" single A prospect who throws high 90's but has shoulder issues. Hopefully even a PTBNL as well!

That's the thing that really pisses me off. I was ok with the trade because I thought Dolan finally grew a pair and was going to go all in. I thought he would open up the pockets a bit this offseason and target some guys. Instead, we end up with Grady "DL" Sizemore and Casey Kotchman.

    BIG improvements there!

So, while we trade our two best overall prospects, we did nothing to correspond the trade. Really killed my interest from the get go. They bank far too much on guys like Hafner to bounce back and have good years.
  • wes_mantooth
Right, and what led them to believe that Grady and hafner would bounce back? Grady is obviously done and hafner hasn't done anything since they cracked down on steroids.

I'm starting to think Grady was juicing as well. This dude was NEVER injured. He had a streak where he played every single fucking game that was well over 100... Then suddenly he can't stay healthy for more than 30-40 games at a time? His power and speed also has decreased.
  • wes_mantooth
I bet Dolan is pissed that the scoreboard is still lit up for chucks last call. It is another unnecessary expense

    Wouldn't surprise me at all

lol, so true. He's probably pacing back and forth right now.

not like they will pan out anyways.

Tribe should sign Weeden. I bet he's MLB ready.

I think the pessimism wouldn't be so bad right now were it not for the fact this team was God awful offensively last season, and did nothing to make the situation better in the off-season.

People are just seeing more of the same, so there is not even that hope there that some how this season will be better.

You just can't win in this league without legit power threats, and we just don't have them.

On a more positive note, the Tribe will announce a multi-year extension for Carlos Santana. Presumably buying out some of his free agency years.

Right now we suck offensively. But it's a long season peeps. Still hoping things turn around......
