Game 3 - Miami Marlins (Zambrano) @ Cincinnati Reds (Arroyo)

Dusty played traditional baseball that inning! Not having a reliever ready for the pinch hitter when the first two reached(didn't want to diminish the confidence of the starter), and playing for the tie at home(infield back for Reyes, and in for Bonifacio, both of which resulted in RBIs).

Harris has had 2 at bats and both of them have been awful.

Chapman in down by a run. Dusty is tremendous at all facets of coaching.

Keep swinging at the first pitch and it'll be fine.

Especially as they are playing a bunch of days in a row without an off day!

Yep, all but over. Looked like the same old reds this series. Attack early, then nothing in the middle. With this rotation, that can't happen.

Chapman pitching 2 innings.... Wtf dusty

    Chapman still in? lol
  • Midstate01
Damn Reyes is fast. Looked like chapman and Reyes had another exchange, friendly kind. Reyes probably saying, I gotcha this time.

Was that last play a hit, an error, or a FC. I vote FC.

You meant a suicide squeeze? Not a hit and run?

Hit and run, just tap an infield grounder to the right side with the runner on first moving on the pitch and the runner on 3rd not but going on contact, but with the infield in DP depth only, not playing in. I think its a lot easier to tap an infield grounder than to bunt.

What if you hit it in the air? Double play

The scoring it of a hit is pretty unfair call to the pitcher. If it wasn't a game ending play, once Hanley realized he couldn't go home would have tried for the out at first and would have been charged an error if he didn't get an out. To me it was a fielders choice, could have gotten an out at first, but didn't need an out at first. Same thing if Rolen hit a routine fly to CF and the Cf just runs into the dugout, leaving the ball to fall to the turf. Do you score it a hit or a FC and SF?

That is why you do it with a hitter who can control his swing, like Rolen. What happens if you pop up a suicide squeeze? I just think its safer than a suicide squeeze, but again only if the infield is not playing in, then they'll just throw home to get the lead runner. I figured they'd be playing in DP depth.

Dont know what they would call if the outfielder did that. Either a sac fly or a 1B.
