However, people are going to bitch regardless of the scenario. If Masterson was left in and give it up, people would bitch that he should have never came back out because he was at 99 pitches.

You can't let a starter go past 100 pitches on start #1. Arms isn't stroh enough for that. All spring they work to get to the 100 pitch count for today. Later on in the year yes, but not today.
However, Peatano should've gotten a shot with Perez sucking and not having pitched all spring off an injury. -
