Blockbuster MLB Trade: Halladay to Phillies, Lee to Mariners
-
KoachKanuteIf Philly signs Halladay to an extension, then Halladay is locked-up for three years at least. Lee is a free-agent after this coming season and has told Philly he "wants what the market will bear." Philly's taking the three-year guy over the one-year guy.
Drabek and Brown will not go to Toronto according to philly.com . Michael Taylor may well go to Toronto. In other words, Philly looks to get one year of Lee and three years of Halladay while including only one of their top four prospects (Drabek, Brown, Happ, Taylor). -
heel023As a Yankee fan I'm glad to get Halladay out of the AL East!
I have looked around and I can not find what the Jays get in return. -
King CurtisAccording to Jayson Stark, here is what Toronto gets in return
OF Michael Taylor
C Travis D'Arnaud
JA Happ or Kyle Drabek -
mucalum49I saw it is Drabek and Taylor according to an ESPN news break around 11:30. Those are two guys the Indians should have targeted. Went to an Aeros game and saw Taylor play, he is huge! Basically another Ryan Howard but he was playing RF.

HitsRus^^^That is the kind of stuff that happens when money rather than baseball sense drives a trade. The Tribe was dumping payroll at any cost, so instead of getting top prospects, they got second tier...and one with a bum arm on top of it. The funny thing is that Tribe could have gotten more for Lee if they had held on to him...instead they were desperate to sell at the trading deadline.

CharlieHogWell as a Cliff Lee fan this pretty much blows.
-
King CurtisToronto is going to trade Michael Taylor to Oakland for Brett Wallace.

osu99This trade will bite the Phillies in the ass IMO. Lee was lights out for them and what is the difference between him and Halladay at this point besides Roy eating up innings? I think Philly should have kept Lee and signed him long term.
