[LEFT]OSHKOSH, Wis. – Authorities recovered a body from the icy waters of a Wisconsin river Monday, less than a day after the son of Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin was reported missing nearby.
Oshkosh police said they would not immediately release the identity of the body, but several reports suggested that Packers players and staff had been notified the body was indeed 21-year-old Michael T. Philbin.
Police said earlier the body found in the Fox River in Oshkosh, about 50 miles south of Green Bay, was a male aged 20-25, according to the Oshkosh Northwestern.
Michael was last heard from Sunday at about 2:00am local time. He had gone to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh to visit friends.
At around 2:30am Sunday a man called police to report that he believed he heard someone fall through the ice of the Fox River.
According to ESPN Wisconsin, Packers players were informed Monday afternoon the body found in the river was, in fact, Michael's. WTMJ-TV, citing sources at Lambeau Field, also reported the players had been informed of Michael's death.
The elder Philbin, 50, has been the offensive coordinator of the Packers since 2007 and interviewed last week for the Dolphins' head coaching vacancy.
The Packers had a bye this past weekend, and will host the Giants in the Divisional Round next Sunday.

ESPN says the body has been positively ID'd as Michael Philbin: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ycn-10815671

    T
hat sucks :(. I sincerely hope that, unless he begs and pleads, Joe Philbin is not in attendance at the game Sunday. There are much more important things than football. And for what it's worth, the son doesn't sound like the most savory character (see http://www.doj.state.wi.us/news/files/PhilbinCriminalComplaint.PDF)
but still, for the family to have to go through it is awful.

There's a difference between twitter and news outlets. One has to confirm their sources with factual evidence.

It was confirmed yesterday by 4pm that it was in fact the young mans body. ESPN's business analyst and former Packers executive tweeted it.
