Smartest NY Jet throws whole organization under the bus

  • Tiernan
One of the smartest players on the NY Jets, (according to none other than Colin Cowherd) rookie QB Greg McElroy says the entire organization is in disarray and many veterans on the team could care less about winning and are more concerned with personal stats and selfish salary demands. Coach Ryan had no clue as to the turmoil in the lockeroom and could have cared less anyway as he mostly caters to the team's stars and has little contact with many of the players.

Jet enthusiasts will undoubtedly spin this as McElroy trying to get out of NY and going somewhere his talents might be better utilized. But that's why he's so smart who wouldn't want out of this mess?

Justin may use the banhammer on you, for bringing this truth to light on his message board.

    He's probably correct.

He actually said mcelroy was one of the smartest players he's had on his show..not on the jets. and mcelroy is right, but still will probably get buttfucked for his comments

Heard this on the radio yesterday. A third string rookie speaking out. Somebody should tell him to STFU, but based on what he said, nobody will even care.

Can't Wait for Bart Scott's response.

Like Rusillo(sp?) just said on the SVP Show, McElroy is not seen as a 3rd string QB down in Alabama where the interview took place. He is seen as the QB of a National Championship team. A legend perhaps. It would be like if Krenzel was in Columbus doing an interview and said something about his NFL team two years after winning a National title at OSU. Besides, what was he really supposed to do? Sidestep questions on a local interview with people you are very familiar with?

I think Cowherd said he is one of the smartest guys because of his Wonderlic test score(dont know what it was, just that it was high), and Dan Patrick also mentioned that he was offered a job by ESPN before the draft if he went undrafted or the NFL gig didn't work out.

    ^^^
fairly impressive creds from a couple of the best in the business. This kid could very well be a genius and maybe its time to clean house on this tub of crap along the Hudson.

He was a guest host of several shows on ESPN/ESPN radio leading up to the draft and it was unreal how polished he was. Pretty much everyone that was on with him was blown away at how well he was able to speak and seemed like he had been doing radio/tv for years.

I miss the days when what was said or happened in the room stayed in the room.

Maybe if Rex Ryan's mouth didn't continue to write checks his players couldn't cash there wouldn't be so much dissent and people speaking out.

In his own statement he pretty much answered himself. It's the NFL, that stuff happens everywhere. Although I do agree with his comments that it is a shame it happens. Also kid does sound pretty smart he will definitely find a nice career after football.

that's what happens when you're white and educated.

I don't think what he said was a big deal. If he was calling out specific people it would be different, but he didn't say anything that most people didn't already know.

Thought he attended a SEC school.

I like Greg McElroy. I have no problem with what he said. This team is a mess.

A couple teams in the league like to keep a token educated person on the team to handle all speaking duties, to kind of detract from all the filthy southerners on the roster.

    couldn't have said it better.

He may only be a rookie 3rd screen QB but ya know what.....I bet he got to sit back and see alot of this BS going on each and every day, and maybe even more so than those actually playing.
I dont know if Plex is who he was talking about, but I know it Pittsburgh he seemed to pout if he wasnt included in the gameplan early in a game. If he caught a pass or two in the first couple of drives...he was really good, but if went without a catch in the first he pretty much pouted. I could see Holmes being a dick and whom he was talking about.

To be fair, Craig Krenzel did a hell of a job doing that around here too.

the rookie QB probably wants traded from that team. As a QB he is a leader even if 3rd team and maybe his teammates needed to hear this . The guy is pizzed and he said what he thought . He manned up

Aww, sorry to let you down.

I've always been extremely impressed by McElroy. Plus his dad is an executive with the Cowboys, so he might know a thing or two about the NFL. He will end up on TV eventually.
