NFL Players that Surprised You

    ETFAIL spinoff style!

Matt Ryan: Thought he was overrated, had no idea why he was considered a Heisman candidate. Did not expect him to produce the way he is now.

MJD: Never expected the this type of production out of him.

Cam Newton: So far has proved me wrong about being a bust.

Winslow: I expected him to be one of the best TE's in the game, but idiotic injuries put an end to that.

Vick: Last year was a great year for him, but going into the NFL I honestly expected those type of years out of Vick almost every year.

Why did you change the "!" to a "." in my quote?

Aaron Curry - Thought he'd be incredible in the NFL. Basically what Von Miller is now mixed with Patrick Willis

Limas Sweed - I was pissed when the Steelers picked him, thought he'd be torching the browns for years to come.

Laurence Maroney - thought he was going to be a monster for NE

Andy Dalton - Only rookie yr and I think he's a tad over rated but he has vastly surpassed my expectations. I thought he was going to be Kyle Boller INT machine. He has a stronger arm than I gave him credit for.

    K.

Anyway, I was pretty young at the time, but I thought Danny Weurfel (spelling?) was going to be a good NFL QB.

I always thought Vernon Gholston would be a beast. Complete fail.

    Marshall Faulk.

I was like eh.....he dominated at San Diego St........who cares.

I was just a little off about that one.

I thought the same about Sweed but replace Browns with Bengals.
Staying with wr's I'd say Michael Crabtree although he's played better as of late.

You thought Limas was gonna be good? Hell, his scouting report when he was drafted said he had poor hands.

I was the afc champ when he dropped that for sure TD, faked an injury that took a TO away and cost the steelers a chance to score. At that moment in time his steelers career was over.

He had the physcial tools to be good and he was good at Texas just sucked in the pros.

True story, and I'm 100% positive no one cares, but Danny Weurfel is married to the daughter of a lady I teach with.

But when the scouting report questions his hands and says he drops passes at the college level i didnt expect that to get better when the game is faster with better coverage come NFL time.

Needless to say..i wasnt surprised he was a flop.

No Kijana Carter (sp) yet? I thought he was going to be one of the great ones.....as I did Marshall Faulk

Faulk played at SDS....but he completely dominated the field no matter who they were playing.

    Andy Katzenmoyer

The one thing with KJCarter though was he suffered a devastating knee injury immediately. I think many give him a pass.

Once he healed and such it was enough time for him to be bengalized!

    How about brian Bozworth?

Agreed, too bad injuries ruined his career. He was a beast.
  • Pick6
I'll go Cam Newton, he's done better than I thought.. although Im not sold on him yet.

Colt McCoy: thought he was gonna be good (wrong)

Cam Newton: thought he would bust

Andy Dalton: thought he'd be ok but has surpassed my expectations already

    +1 on all of these.

I really thought McCoy had a chance to be a very good QB and after reading a lot of stuff on here about how he was coming along and the optimism from Cleveland fans I bought into it. Dude has been nothing more than a crash test dummy.

I thought Cam would absolutely stink as an NFL QB. LOL

Thought Dalton was a stiff. Wrong again.
  • GOONx19
    Gholston for sure.
  • thavoice
Ho about Vrabel? Wasnt an HoF career but he had a very good one.

Steelers drafted him as an undersized DE, of which they like to do, and make him a rush OLB. Didnt quite work out for him and then he moved on. Was pretty solid for a long time.

I dont recall what people thought of him coming outta college though.

LOLston is a good one. I'll throw Robert gallery into the mix as well along with Jerious Norwood. Thought they were going to be good.

Gallery is a very solig guard but didn't live up to the hype as a LT. I too liked him.

Jerome Harrison was a late round pick for the Browns that I thought would be a "poor man's Reggie Bush." He did show flashes for a 5 game stretch.
