I don't think so. Green Bay beat Saints head to head in a quarterback duel.sleeper;1027990 wrote:It's going to be really hard to put anyone over Brees this season, even Aaron Rodgers. Brees for MVP, I'm sold, book it!
Green Bay has the better record. This is relevant because both teams are carried by their quarterback. It's not the defense that's winning these games, although neither defense is terrible.
Now lets look at stats.
Drew Brees:
Attempts: 440
Completions:622
Yards: 5,087
Completion %: 70.7
Average: 8.18
TD: 41
Long: 79
INT: 13
Fumble 0
Rating: 108.4
Aaron Rodgers:
Completions: 343
Attempts: 502
Yards: 4,643
Completion %: 68.3
Average: 9.25
TD's: 45
Long: 93
INT: 6
Fumble: 4
Turnovers, they are about even. 13-10, that gives a slight edge to Rodgers. Completion percentage goes to Brees, but it's higher because it's a more dink and dunk type of offense. The real story between their stats is in their average. Aaron Rodgers is on average throwing for a little over 1 more yard per attempt... which is pretty huge. One extra yard per attempt is probably the thing that most distinguishes these QB's.
Yes, Brees has 440 more yards. But he did it on 120 more attempts.
As I've alluded to a few times before... it's about most valuable (Why I keep mentioning that both QB's are essential to their teams success and the win totals). Both teams suck defending against the pass (30th and 31st in opposing passing yards.) And both teams are about the same against the rush (Saints 10th, and Green Bay 16th). Neither defense is anything to write home about.
Where the Saints do have a clear edge over the Packers though is in their rushing attack. Their ranked 9th in yards per game while Green Bay is 27th. And having a healthy rushing game makes things so much easier on the Quarterback.
From all this... Aaron Rodgers is the better QB on the better team doing more for the offense than Brees does respectively for his team (help of a good rushing attack). -
said_aouitaIt's illegal for the defense to touch QB's or tackle wide receivers too roughly. No surprise more offense records are being broken.

gerb131Congrats to Brees.

The idiot can't think of his own material. If you put him in his place numerous times (not hard to do), he will steal your material as well.shook_17;1028036 wrote:^^ like_that wanna be? -

IliketurtlesI've always liked Brees even when he was at Purdue. Guy is just pure class.
As for the MVP I'd give it to Rodgers. -
thavoiceI thought this was an interesting stat they showed.
We all know that it is a passing league now.
Brees avgs more above the league average than what Marino did when he set the record.
As for whom should be the MVP? Tough question. Neither will be the 'wrong' pick. Thing is...they vote for it before the playoffs and announce it later after we see weeks of more football. At this point in time.......Rodgers has put up unbelievalbe numbers, and has had to do so outdoors. Brees set the record, but has more INT and less TD's, and I think he plays over half his games indoors, ten this season. I know ya cannot punish him for that, but when things are that close I think that does come into play. He did break the record in 15 weeks though.
He has a chance to demolish the record if he plays much sunday. His completion percentage is a bit higher..but not that much higher. -

True but Brees has thrown 58 more times than Marino did in 16 games. Both have had unbelievable years.thavoice;1028854 wrote:I thought this was an interesting stat they showed.

No. From their performance against Pittsburgh, I'm guessing the Rams noticed that Indy's been winning and decided that trying to be competitive might not be a good idea. Except for Jackson. He tries hard even though he has to be wondering why he's wasting his career with that team and the collection of pure shit lined up with him on offense.BR1986FB;1027841 wrote:I guess but does anyone think the Rams knock off San Fran? -
Iliketurtles
Did anyone think the Rams would beat the Saints earlier in the year? But yeah as Heteric said I don't think there is any chance the Rams even try in the game because Indy seems to be pulling the reverse Indy method(wins all your games early then lose your last 2-3) and they want that #1 pick.BR1986FB;1027841 wrote:I guess but does anyone think the Rams knock off San Fran? -
thavoiceThe rams are pretty bad and have just mailed the season in.
I dont think they will tank on purpose, they are just that bad right now. To give up 27 to a Charlie batch led steelers and get shut out?
C'mon man. -
BR1986FBWasn't even thinking about the "Tom Brady factor." Brady is nipping at Brees heels in this yardage race and if New Orleans were to sit Brees, Brady could leapfrog Brees for most yardage passing in a season. Brees will play, no doubt.
