Week 15: Pittsburgh Steelers (10-3) at San Francisco 49ers (10-3)

hasbeenPlaying ben now is not smart.
-
AutomatikI'll be the first to admit, I underestimated the 49rs. They have a very solid D. Aldon Smith is an animal.
-
THE4RINGZThe Niners came to play tonight. A good win for them.
-
NonRough one.
Going to be tough to win on the road in the Wild Card round the way they looked tonight. -
THE4RINGZHave to get healthy in the next two weeks. I dont' want to rest starters, and let them get rusty, I want two wins.

We are. So much for the Steelers being a lock if Baltimore loses.killer_ewok;1021259 wrote:The Ravens have to be loving this. -
LJImpossible to win on the road being -4 turnovers and -4 sacks.

wes_mantooththank you to SF defense and big ben for getting me into the FF championship game.

Again, I am amazed we are 10-4 with our O-line, turnover ratio, and injuries.LJ;1021283 wrote:Impossible to win on the road being -4 turnovers and -4 sacks. -

Yeah, I never said that. -

Didn't mean to imply you did. Pretty sure Non said it. Funny cuz he usually knows what he's talking aboutkiller_ewok;1021300 wrote:Yeah, I never said that. -
HereticTonight's a "FUCK BALTIMORE" night for me. It was pretty obvious that Ben was nowhere near the norm. Little mobility, tons of turnovers (which happened against the Ravens in the first week, but wasn't the same problem since then), unable to really move the offense. A good play here and there, but no consistency. He probably shouldn't have even played. But last night, as they have done most of the time when they play sub-.500 teams, the Ravens choked to put Pittsburgh in a situation where a win puts them in the driver's seat.
If Baltimore wins last night, Pittsburgh's in a situation where they're essentially a game back with two to go IF THEY WIN because of the tiebreaker. A situation where they, having clinched a playoff spot, SHOULD have rested him, Woodley, anyone who's a key player dealing with injuries. Instead, they played because of the hope they might move past Baltimore, lost and now will have a short week with Roethlisberger no better and perhaps worse considering he did play a full game and took some hits.
Too bad...the way the Ravens choke when they play lesser teams, I'd have probably picked Denver to beat them if Baltimore dropped to the #5 seed. That situation's a lot less likely now. Pittsburgh needs to get healthy, even if it means essentially throwing a game or two. It's not like they've never won a Super Bowl from the Wild Card spot before... And it's not like they'll make it there without going through the Ravens and/or Pats. Better to be healthy on the road against those guys than banged up and decimated either at home or on the road because you let pride get in the way of logic. -
NonI was wrong about this one.
Puts me at about 92 percent for the year. -
like_thatGood win for the Niners. Not really surprised they dominated the game. Healthy/injured rapist, I would expect the same result. Niners are just the much better team, and the Steelers just only have one good win under their belt. The niners played their game, and shut down the steelers running game. Healthy or not, when rapistberger can't use the running game as his security blanket, he has a tough time making the tough throws downfield. Maybe the steelers were a bit overconfident after the ravens loss. Can non confirm this?

Not a bad team but no way Baltimore screws up the last game. They'll be right on the verge at that point and they'll come out and finish the job.
There is a slight opening for an upset tonight because San Diego is at home and they've picked it up a little the past couple weeks.
If the Chargers win, I think the Steelers will get a huge boost from that and they'll win Monday night to seize control.Non;1018761 wrote:Wrong.
If Baltimore loses, I guarantee the Steelers win Monday night.

How come when the Steelers were 2-2 you came on here saying they wouldn't make the playoffs?
They're 10-3 and about to clinch a playoff berth today.
In your face. Pay up. -
Commander of Awesome9ers abused the Steelers oline. Whoever was blocking Aldon Smith should be embarrassed.

They ran the ball a little bit last night. I would say enough to support a passing game under normal circumstances. Roethlisberger didn't need the mobility to beat Cleveland in the second half but against San Francisco not being able to avoid some of the rushes and make broken plays I thought was the problem. If Ben was healthy when they went to the no huddle in the second half, he would've been able to extend those drives for more points. That's what he has to do, at least a few times on the road, if they're going to be successful in the no huddle.like_that;1021424 wrote:Healthy or not, when rapistberger can't use the running game as his security blanket, he has a tough time making the tough throws downfield. The rest of the Steelers team did not play close to what I expected. I'm surprised by that. It's not what we're used to from this Steelers team late in the season in a big game. They did not look real focused and cohesive. That doen't bode well for even one road playoff game, probably at Denver. I'd have to say as of right now, they look like a one and done team.
They should sit Ben out the last two. They'll be No. 5 either way. -
ytownfootballThis is about the time the talking heads start murmuring about how the Steelres are getting old again....
-
AutomatikBen was still taking shots with 2 min to go. wtf was Tomlin thinking?
Wayy to many mistakes from top to bottom. The D played well enough and the offense sucked ass. -
THE4RINGZWhen the O would get some momentum, they would get shut down a couple of plays later. No intensity on offense.
