It looks like he's not going to be the GM...perhaps the President of Operations. That leaves the door open for Rick Hahn or Andrew Friedman to come in as GM. And apparently Epstein has a hard-on for Ryne Sandberg...so this could be the first step in a complete (much needed) restructure of the Cubs organization. -
thavoiceSandberg is managing at AAA for the Iron Pigs, dont know about how good is was doing. Went to a Clippers game this year against them. Too bad it rained out before he even stepped outta the dugout.

I believe that's who the Clippers beat in the league finals.thavoice;931269 wrote:Sandberg is managing at AAA for the Iron Pigs, dont know about how good is was doing. Went to a Clippers game this year against them. Too bad it rained out before he even stepped outta the dugout. -

Sandberg is better than Quade...and Sandberg hasn't ever managed (or coached) at the Major League level. This I know.thavoice;931269 wrote:Sandberg is managing at AAA for the Iron Pigs, dont know about how good is was doing. Went to a Clippers game this year against them. jordo212000Why would you bring Epstein in and not have him be the GM? Kind of dumb in my opinion. I wouldn't want him delegating. If he is going to do that, why not just save $4 mill a year and hire the guy he wanted to bring in. Just cut out the middleman

SMH, you actually think Epstein won't be hands on and won't have the final say on everything?jordo212000;931357 wrote:Why would you bring Epstein in and not have him be the GM? I hope he is hands on. If I am paying him $20 mill in total he better be hands on and he better not just sit around and give "final say" -
cviewEpstein will have plenty of say, that is certain.
Once Z and Soriano's contracts come to some sort of resolution will be when the Cubs have a real chance to get rolling. It will take a couple years, but the resources are there for the Cubs to be a perennial contender in the NL, especially with all the small market teams that occupy the Central. I'm excited. -

I personally think a lot of it will be immediate. He will drop either Z or Soriano (eat a lot of their contracts, but they'll be gone) and I think he'll make a splash in FA...probably Prince Fielder.
I'm not saying we'll win the division or even make the playoffs next year...but I think it will be a much better season.
