Lebron James inquires about NFL Free Agency

how do you know he wouldnt? he is a physical freak. You obviously cant be as physical in basketball as you can football. he wouldnt have any problem getting off of the line lol. Reading a defense is something you learn(just as every rookie in the NFL has to do), has nothing to do with his athleticism. Holding onto the ball isnt exactly a hard thing to do.KR1245;933381 wrote:Ok. How do you know Lebron could get off of a jam at the line? Dude couldn't even post up J Kidd in the finals. How do you know he can read a defense? Or catch and hold onto the ball while getting hit.
I dislike the guy as much as anyone, but at least im a realist. -

Well, I don't know for sure and no one does. If you would have asked those questions instead of using Michael Phelps and Usain Bolt as examples as to why he can't you probably would have gotten a real answer.KR1245;933381 wrote:Ok. To answer your question, maybe he could get off the line, maybe he can't. If he is lining up against a cornerback, I'd have to think that he could use his size and strength to get even an average amount of separation at the line. He is 6'9 260 and still has pretty decent quickness and agility. Tell me a defensive back in the NFL that would consistently be able to keep him from getting off the LOS. As far as reading a defense, he isn't the quarterback. I understand that some really good receivers are good at finding holes in zones etc, but not necessarily every WR or TE does. Its mostly beating the man covering you and getting to the ball, which again, he's 6'9 with pretty good explosiveness off the ground. I don't think he could suit up this weekend and be Calvin Johnson or anything, but you are being a blind hater if you don't think he could be at least productive if he were to go through with it. -
AutomatikYes it was high school and yes it was 8 or so years ago, but he was all state as a receiver.

thavoiceNot an NBA fan at all, but those guys are some tremendous athletes and most likely a number could do well at a TE/WR spot. Many of the good players have great hands so catching wont be that difficult.
As for Phelps? Eh. WHo knows. I would guess not though because there would be too much difference than swimming. -
bases_loadedIf you ask Michael Vick who the best QB to come out of his area...he would tell you Allen Iverson. There is no doubt in my mind the best all around athletes in the world are NBA players. I hate the NBA, love the NFL, but there is no argument to whether or not one could play and be successful in the NFL. Antonio Gates didn't play football at all in college and might go down as the greatest TE of our generation.

karen lotzPhelps might be an alright rush defensive end. That swim move would get him past many a tackle.

KR1245I know Bron is a freak athlete, I just dont know if it automatically translates to football. We have seen NFL athletes try the basketball thing without success, I don't think it would be much different the other way around.
I'm surprised a NFL team didn't take a flyer on Manute, just put him in the endzone and toss it up -

I'm with you on your first part, IF LeBron never had previous success on the football field. Thats why I think he would have a good shot, but IMO it will never come to fruition. It would be stupid on his part.KR1245;933444 wrote:I know Bron is a freak athlete, I just dont know if it automatically translates to football. Hell, Bol wouldnt be able to get off the LOS. He is slow, and and DB could come up and knock him down before he even got in a step. Hell, put a LB on him and he goes nowhere -

Almost anyone who is athletic can learn to play football, truthfully there is way more skill involved in basketball and much more hand eye coordination needed. You have to learn to pass, dribble, shoot, defend and so on. Football is a much easier game to pick up for a great athlete.KR1245;933444 wrote:I know Bron is a freak athlete, I just dont know if it automatically translates to football. Big Deal, many NBA players were All State in football in High School, doesn't mean that translates into playing in the NFL. -

This. Gates was a monster at Kent State and has made like 7 pro bowls and he never played college football. Folks LeBron would make it easilybases_loaded;933440 wrote:If you ask Michael Vick who the best QB to come out of his area...he would tell you Allen Iverson.
