MLB Player/Manager Title
-
Ironman92Over the last 20 or so years no team has tried this idea once done by Pete Rose and I believe Frank Robinson.
Obviously many excellent managers played in the 80's and 90's....who would you trust to field the best team, make the crucial moves and also give himself the appropriate amount of playing time?
Active players who could be ok.... Michael Young, Jason Varitek, Victor Martinez, Scott Rolen, Omar Vizquel...maybe Chipper and Helton.
I think it would have to be a highly respected guy who doesn't have overwhelming beliefs of his current ability....Pudge ( he'd catch everyday) -
karen lotzI wouldn't mind Chipper.

chicago510Not Paul Konerko are you kidding me Kenny?! You almost didn't even re-sign him last year because you splurged on ADAM FREAKING DUNN.

chicago510But, add Jeter to your list, I believe he's at the top of the respected active players list.

Absolutely....but I believe he would pencil himself in everyday too long into his career....same with Posada, Johnny Damon....Bobby Abreu might fit the necessary mold. -
