You made it clear? You implied that it was "improper" by then distinguishing what you thought was the "proper" analogy. He was trying to be extreme. It's obvious it's still going over your head.
If you are offended by the ignorant rube comment, then I suggest you buy a dictionary. I simply called him an uneducated, unsophisticated person from a rural area. You put the negative spin on it.
Who said I was offended? I was LOLing at you for calling him ignorant then not even comprehending what he was saying. BTW, calling someone "uneducated" is negative. No spin needed.

The reality is, he's either an idiot who can't choose his words carefully, or an attention whore. Either way isn't good.

Besides, didn't Republicans always want celebrities to keep their mouths shut about politics?
Once again, someone is looking at this completely wrong. Now, I do not agree with this, but, let's look at it this way. Obama has different views on the economy than a good number of Americans do. I personally think he has good intentions and does not intend to be malicious. Some people on the other hand, believe that not only is what he is doing wrong, but what he is doing is malicious. Now we go back to Hitler. He thought what he was doing was the right thing, but it was obvious it was malicious. Now, when you look at the other side, a lot of people think Boehner's ideas are the 100% right ones and that he is trying to fight off the bad juju (Obama) and save the people. Just like the leader of the Jews (Netanyahu) would fight off the bad (Hitler, or the killer of the Jews) to save his people.

Now the reason that it's Hitler vs Netanyahu not Hitler vs Churchill or Netanyahu vs Abbas, is because Churchill wanted to save his country and Abbas just wants to get the Jews off of "his"land. Whereas Hitler wanted to eradicate the Jews. Just like some people want to say that Obama is trying to eradicate the economy.

When looked at the kind of fucked up thinking that goes behind it, the problem isn't the statement he made, the problem is the underlying opinions.

The classic, "I'm going to say I don't agree with the crazy guy, but let me spend post after post defending what he said, remember though: I don't agree with him!!!"

And herein lies the idiocy of the comparison. Comparing the disagreement between "killing off entire races of people is right/wrong" vs. "Liberal economic policies are right/wrong," is so incredibly over the top, it takes an extremely dense person(or one desperately searching for attention) to make it.

So I have to be a closet supporter of his comments in order to make fun of people who refuse to understand what he was just trying to say because "OMGWTFBBQ SOMEONE USED 'HITLER' AND 'OBAMA' IN THE SAME PARAGRAPH!!!!!!"

Of course it was over the top. Doesn't mean he was trying to draw attention to himself, or make him a dense person, it means he was using extremes to try to make his point. People do it all the time, yet God forbid, someone used "Hitler" in the same paragraph as "Obama".

Democrats and liberal celebrities have been comparing Bush,Tea Party members,Republican Senators and Congressmen to Hitler for a while, I don't see the big deal.
  • BR1986FB
ESPN, ABC, Disney, etc ALL financially back the Democratic Party. Of COURSE they are going to have a hissy fit over a COMPARISON (Bocephus did NOT call Obama "Hitler." )

Now had he (Williams) called Bush "Hitler" like at least one political analyst and that **** Janeane Garofolo did (she actually referred to his regime as the "Fourth Reich") ESPN would've said "oh, how unfortunate" but would've done nothing about it.

Post #4 defending the statement(which, as you've noted you DON'T agree with!!!!!!)

If he was concerned about making a point, he's utterly failed in that regard. As any logical individual could have forecasted, throwing in a over the top Hitler comparison is a great way to get your "point" dismissed as nothing more than extremist garbage.

He said something that any logical person could have predicted would get him criticized and eventually shit-canned. I guess if that was his goal, he did go about it in a pretty intelligent way.

Nope, just laughing at people who don't understand it and are whining about it. (you are a prime example) Were you whining like this when people were ACTUALLY comparing Bush to Hitler?

I wouldn't say I'm whining about it. As I said in my first post, he said something stupid, he paid the consequences. Nothing more beyond that. You're the one that took issue with that point of view, adamantly defending him against the stupid/attention whore label.
Were you whining like this when people were ACTUALLY comparing Bush to Hitler?
I don't care if they're punished or not punished, but they shouldn't be shocked when they are if they say dumb and/or intentionally inflammatory things. I had no problem with the Dixie Chicks losing fans when they made comments they knew would rile up their base.

Is that the root of your anger here? That he's a conservative being punished for things liberals weren't? If so, just say that and I'd be inclined to agree with you, instead of the "I disagree BUT...." game.

And my whole thing is people freaking out over what was said vs what they THINK he said.

It honestly doesn't bother me one bit, but some people feel that one group is untouchable while they can lambaste the other. I think the inequality is unfair, but haters gonna hate, no matter if you are a conservaderp or a libatard.

He was let go awhile back but he came back earlier this year with his own syndicated ESPN radio show. He also contributes to some of their shows on TV.

To piggy back what I was saying earlier, I looked up Jermele Hill and noted she made a Hitler reference in regards to the Boston Celtics a couple years ago. She received a one week suspension and full backing from ESPN she misspoke. A second incident I recalled (although not Hitler related) was when Dana Jacobson shouted "fuck Jesus" at the Mike & Mike Roast. She received no penalty and is still on the network. Hypocrisy at its finest.

I think it is Jemele and I can sum up every single column she's written as follows: "Racism. Racism. Racism. That's racist. Everyone is racist. Racism."

Unfortunately Garofolo doesn't get a paycheck from ESPN. Williams does.

Besides, the real idiots are those dumbshits on Fox and Friends for having Hank Jr. on in the first place. It was obvious from his speech and agitated behavior that he hasn't given up the booze and/or drugs.

How do we know that Boehner wasn't Hitler in the analogy?

Hank beat them to the punch! HaHa espn

[LEFT]"After reading hundreds of e-mails, I have made MY decision," Williams said in a statement to The Associated Press. "By pulling my opening Oct 3rd, You (ESPN) stepped on the Toes of The First Amendment Freedom of Speech, so therefore Me, My Song, and All My Rowdy Friends are OUT OF HERE. It's been a great run."

Spokesman Kirt Webster said Williams made the decision Wednesday night, while the network said it informed Williams of the move Thursday morning.

I would've rather had them have Emmitt Smith quote Shakespeare.
