Pittsburgh Penguins 2011-2012 Thread

Tiger2003As much as I hate to say it I believe Philly takes Game 6 and closes out the series. I hope the Pens prove me wrong and alot of other people. Fleury will have to be on his A game for the Pens to win. Also the Pens should not score first.
-
killer_ewokHere's hoping that the Pens' momentum carries over to today.
-
Crimson streakGiroux lasered that one hell of a shot
-
killer_ewokCould be 4 or 5-0 Flyers so Pens are fortunate as they dodged some bullets late in the 1st. Only down two right now. Gotta regroup and find a way to score in the 2nd. No more dumb penalties. Philly almost certainly will make them pay.
-
killer_ewok4-1 Flyers. Down to desperation now.
-
Crimson streakCrosby is getting abused today
-
Crimson streakAnd the penguins go down
-
like_thatGood series win for the Flyers. They relaxed the past 2 games, but put an end to that mess today. Flyers were clearly the better team coming in the series, and they showed it this series.

Commander of AwesomePens letting Talbot go sure bit them in the ass.

He definitely played like he had a chip on his shoulder against his old team.Commander of Awesome;1150016 wrote:Pens letting Talbot go sure bit them in the ass. -

How so? The guy didn't do shit for the past two seasons with them. Gets paid a fat contract and decides to show up. Anyways....Commander of Awesome;1150016 wrote:Pens letting Talbot go sure bit them in the ass.
Only 3 people on the Pens decided to show up. Malkin, Staal, and Despres. -
killer_ewokDisappointing end to a good season.

I agree about Talbot. Besides his Cup Final heroics he didn't do shit after. I was fine with him leaving, but he definitely stepped his game up for Philly.The_Crosby_Show;1150021 wrote:How so? The deck was stacked against Pitts after going down 0-3. I'm just glad they made it somewhat interesting.
I'll be interested to see what the Pens do this offseason. I've heard a lot of rumbling about people wanting to get rid of Fleury. I'm not sure how I feel about that. -
killer_ewokFleury had a bad series but didn't exactly get any help either. Be careful what you wish for. No way should they get rid of Fleury.

I remember there was a time people were trying to say Fleury was the best Goalie in the league (better than Tim Thomas). That just brings the lulz now.Automatik;1150023 wrote:I agree about Talbot. I agree, if they let him go, that will probably come back to bite the pens in the ass too.killer_ewok;1150030 wrote:Fleury had a bad series but didn't exactly get any help either. Be careful what you wish for. No way should they get rid of Fleury. -

Agreed, a lot of factors contributed to this choke job. I'll probably be pissed if they got rid of him.killer_ewok;1150030 wrote:Fleury had a bad series but didn't exactly get any help either. Be careful what you wish for. No way should they get rid of Fleury.
I don't recall anyone saying he was best in the NHL? I sure as hell never thought or said that. He's shown flashes of greatness throughout his career and also total fuck ups....inconsistent. -
End of LineWhat the team needs to look like next year:
Kuntiz-Malkin-Neal

Tangradi-Staal-Kennedy

Jeffrey
Orpik-Letang
Despres-Michalek
Stait-Niskanen
Engo

HereticMan, for what had been a fun and exciting series, yesterday was an anti-climax. Philly just dominated the game from beginning to end. Sucks, but it's not looking to be a good year for favorites. Vancouver and Pittsburgh are out and the Rangers could be following soon. That's both #1 seeds and a #4 whom a lot of people were thinking was as much of a favorite as anything.
That's the great thing about the NHL playoffs...the unpredictability. Just sucks when it's your team getting bumped as part of that unpredictability. -
Raw Dawgin' it
A lot of the time the seeding doesn't matter - sometimes these teams in the 6,7,8 spots just peak at the right time and make deep runsHeretic;1150674 wrote:Man, for what had been a fun and exciting series, yesterday was an anti-climax. I know. It creates unpredictable match-ups so often. Hell, I remember that one of the Pens' Cup wins from when Mario was there came against the West's #8 seed. I think I spent the entire playoffs in this "WTF is going on in that conference?" mode.Raw Dawgin' it;1150807 wrote:A lot of the time the seeding doesn't matter - sometimes these teams in the 6,7,8 spots just peak at the right time and make deep runs
