No football guy can make fun of soccer players anymore

Professional sports have zero integrity....win by any means necessary...faking injuries, steroids...etc -

Probably only a yellow since half the players would be ejected each game if it were a red.OSH;904182 wrote:It's actually never a red. It isn't a red cardable offense. It is only a yellow. Sorry. -

It doesn't start in professional sports. This stuff is prevalent in all sports, at all levels.wes_mantooth;904262 wrote:Professional sports have zero integrity....win by any means necessary...faking injuries, steroids...etc
That's not the reason. Not even close to it. Red cards are for the harshest of the "laws of the game."Raw Dawgin' it;904273 wrote:Probably only a yellow since half the players would be ejected each game if it were a red. -

No, I got it. Just didn't think it was really that funny [or accurate].Raw Dawgin' it;904370 wrote:clearly my post went over your head. -

You don't think it's accurate that soccer players are pussies and take lots of dives a game? Well you're in the minority.OSH;904473 wrote:No, I got it. Just didn't think it was really that funny [or accurate]. -

What is "lots of dives a game"? I watch matches all the time and always see a full 90 with no diving. The bad thing is that its prominent on the biggest stages....WC, Champions League, etc, which are higher profile and come under more scrutiny.....which is rightfully so.Raw Dawgin' it;904490 wrote:You don't think it's accurate that soccer players are pussies and take lots of dives a game? Thats why I'm a huge fan of the US even though they are rather average. You VERY rarely see a US player take a BS dive. -

That's because we're not euro pussies.Automatik;904495 wrote:What is "lots of dives a game"? I watch matches all the time and always see a full 90 with no diving. On your first point - most people in the states only watch the big stage games where we see tons of flops and guys trying to get an advantage. If your big stage games are filled with players being idiots and diving, no one is going to take the time to watch the smaller games. So if the pros on the big stage feel the need to dive there's no way i'm about to watch a lesser team play. -

Yeah I'm agreeing with you, although I don't really care who watches games, big or small. If you don't like it, you don't like it. I'm not trying to sell the sport.Raw Dawgin' it;904498 wrote:That's because we're not euro pussies.

The pressure is higher to win in the WC and bigger tournaments, which results in more diving. The only remedy is for FIFA to start policing it more and handing out match bans. I hope it happens one day. -

A lot of this was going on last season with teams playing Oregon witch hopes to slow down their uptempo offense. Absolutely bush league and the coaches should be ashamed of themselves.GOONx19;904525 wrote: -

I believe it happens. I also don't like it. Like I said earlier, the referees can put a stop to it. And they've taken some of the actions.Raw Dawgin' it;904490 wrote:You don't think it's accurate that soccer players are pussies and take lots of dives a game? Well you're in the minority.
This is more than this hokey stuff you see from these football players. It's clearly evident when it isn't fake and when it is. You have 7 officials (it's at least 7) on the field watching all over and they can't tell someone is faking? Seriously? Who's more at fault here? Who's worse?
Soccer players do it. It's not half a team. And it's not half of all players on the field at any given time. MOST of the time something happens, there is contact...that's the truth. The player just likes to embellish a bit...it happens in every sport also (whether it be a yell, scream, or flail). The worst is when there is no contact -- like we see in some soccer players and these football examples. -
Laley23Fifa, UEFA, CONBEMBOL, CONCACAF, CAF, etc just need to step in during matches under their watch and ban players for a game for diving, post match. I dont think a Referee can give out the correct punishment based on sight lines etc, but video evidence should be used after a match. Much like accumulated Yellow Cards are. Same principal.
As for diving. Soccer is bad, but I still dont see a whole lot of diving that would make anyone say its 10x worse that this sport. What they do most of the time is embellish a foul and roll around in agony trying to get the other guy carded and sell the foul. Thats not really diving, but its still ridiculous. Its the same thing that happens in basketball on fouls when the player is attacking the rim. They dont roll around in agony (unless its Paul Pierce), but they sell the foul with the flailing. Its just as annoying there as it is in soccer. -

Ah, the couple times I remember seeing them get reds from it they had a yellow already now that I think about it.OSH;904182 wrote:It's actually never a red. It isn't a red cardable offense. It is only a yellow. Sorry.
Sorry. -
trep14I'm surprised nobody has brought up basketball yet and all of the flopping that takes place in bball. I actually think there might be more flopping/embellishing that occurs during an nba game than a soccer game.

I did. I agree. They dont dive ever, but they embellish as much if not more often than soccer.trep14;904831 wrote:I'm surprised nobody has brought up basketball yet and all of the flopping that takes place in bball. Commander of AwesomeSo what happens prominently in one sport on the biggest stage and is a part of the sport/culture means that I can't make fun of the ridiculousness of a dive because you found one or two examples of it happening in an NFL game? A game with about 100000x more injuries, risk of injury, etc...? Sorry not buying it. I will still make fun of a pussy in soccer and I like soccer. I enjoy it and the world cup. (MLS sucks IMO).

j_crazyI'm pretty sure I will still make fun of soccer for being gay. And it will still be funny/true.
