Something like all but 1 person on the roster for the KHL team Lokomotiv Yaroslavl died in this. I think the other person that survived is a coach.

Pavol Demitra was the name I recognized the most.

Saw this last night after work.

Man oh man....terrible news. There is always an inherent risk when ya fly and sports teams fly often.
    What a tragedy.

The KHL is going to ask each team in the league to free up 3 players in order for Lokomotiv to rebuild.

This happened in 1979 with a team, and the league did the same thing, asking everyone to free up 3 players each. They also promised the team back then that they wouldn't be relegated to a lower division for 3 years while they rebuilt.

Horribly tragic, I loved Pavol Demitra growing up.

This should have never happened. The Russian equivalent of the FAA is criminally inept.

Can you imagine if this happened to a team in the US? The devastation would be incredible

One of the darkest days in Hockey history....

This offseason keeps getting worse :(

I couldn't imagine being 1 of 2 survivors of an airplane accident. That's a lot to live with

Not sure if serious. There are several such instances, although none associated with a pro team if that is what you mean.
