What is Going On With Peyton?
-
DeyDurkie5Is my fantasy starter in jeopardy? I've got fitzpatrick as my backup, this peyton fucker better play.
-
jordo212000I'd say he'll miss 2-3 weeks. Sucks if you used a high pick on him
-
DeyDurkie55th round for me
-
karen lotzI have him in one of my leagues with Matt Cassel as his back up. Waiver wire looks pretty slim at this point.

Ok, that's not a bad place to pick him. I thought about picking him there in my league as well. You can get him at value this year. Just have to make sure you pick a plan BDeyDurkie5;883778 wrote:5th round for me -
OSHStick a fork in him.

Luckily, I feel like this year is a lot better for plan B's than the recent past.jordo212000;883806 wrote: Just have to make sure you pick a plan B -

You may be right. I've heard various reports that he WILL need another surgery which will a) end his season and b) possibly end his career. Guess we wait and see.OSH;883813 wrote:Stick a fork in him. -
Laley23JMV is one of the most well informed (sourced) journalists in the midwest. If he says something, in this case Manning Tweet, it is true. I wouldnt hold my breath on waiting for Peyton, Agent, or Colts to confirm...they will stall. If JMV is saying it, he is 99% chance right.

Cassel is a solid second option.karen lotz;883785 wrote:I have him in one of my leagues with Matt Cassel as his back up. Waiver wire looks pretty slim at this point. -

Too bad they'll both likely be out in week 1. Dealing with the same issue in one of my leagues (have Manning with Cassel as my backup). May take a 1 week flier on Colt McCoy against the Bengals.like_that;884155 wrote:Cassel is a solid second option. -
karen lotz
Yeah except he might miss week 1 with broken ribs.like_that;884155 wrote:Cassel is a solid second option.
edit: BR beat me to it. -
karen lotzI might to pick up/start Cam Newton. The part that really sucks is we are limited to 10 transactions for the year unless someone goes on IR.
-
like_thatDidn't realize he was injured. I have him as a backup in one my leagues. Good to know.

Who came up with that fail policy?karen lotz;884165 wrote:I might to pick up/start Cam Newton. The part that really sucks is we are limited to 10 transactions for the year unless someone goes on IR. -

That is ridiculous. How many times are you forced to pick up guys for byes and 3 week injuries in football. Insane to only be allowed 10 a year.karen lotz;884165 wrote:The part that really sucks is we are limited to 10 transactions for the year unless someone goes on IR. -
BR1986FBYeah, 10 transactions sucks. I'm a waiver wire scavenger and that's how I usually win my leagues. Come about week 9-10 I'm changing defenses weekly to fit the matchup.

Same here. Im the same way in baseball also. Currently first in my league in playoffs, with 15/22 (24 with DL) players undrafted on my squad.BR1986FB;884175 wrote:Yeah, 10 transactions sucks. karen lotzYeah pretty dumb, not sure who came up with it. Been like that as long as I've been in it. I guess it puts more emphasis on draft strategy, knowing bye weeks, knowing you won't be able to turnover half of your roster every week, etc. There are some other pretty stupid rules as well. If any starter (QB, WR, RB, etc) gets injured and his backup isn't already on a roster prior to that week's games starting, the owner of the starter has until Wednesday at noon to claim the backup. No one else can claim him until after noon on Wednesday. Screwed me last year, I picked up Vick before the first Eagles game (I think they played at 4), then Kolb got hurt.

FootwedgeColts have run a pretty good operation over there, but.....how in the world have they not ....ever...had a decent backup to Manning? Painter? Sorgi? They cannot be serious.

Those are pretty dumb. The draft strategy kind of makes sense. But Im not a big fan of wasting picks on 2 def, k, TE, or even QBs. So there are at least 4 transactions I need. I draft a lot of flyer RBs and WRs in the draft and then adapt with the wire for the 4 positions I said when the byes come around. As opposed to having to draft the back-ups to ride the pine for 16/17 weeks...karen lotz;884190 wrote:Yeah pretty dumb, not sure who came up with it. Been like that as long as I've been in it. I agree. I do know that Collins and a few others wouldnt come to Indy in years past because they thought they had a chance to still play, so they went elsewhere.Footwedge;884202 wrote:Colts have run a pretty good operation over there, but.....how in the world have they not ....ever...had a decent backup to Manning? thavoiceWasnt a fan of him at Tennessee. WHen he came into the league he made me a believer and I enjoy watching him carve up a defense, and when the steelers play against him I just sit back and watch the chess match with him and LeBeau and the steelers defense.
WIth that said......I think Manning may one of those guys who just hit a wall and drop off the scene rapidly. I dont know why.....as he has been very reliable in the past as he rarely gets sacked. His OL, along with his audibles and deciphering the defense keeps him upright most games.
Just seems like he will be the one that when he falls...he does so quickly. -
Heretic
Good back-ups tend to not want to be on teams where the starter is an elite at their position AND has a reputation for durability.Footwedge;884202 wrote:Colts have run a pretty good operation over there, but.....how in the world have they not ....ever...had a decent backup to Manning?
