As of yesterday he was going to appeal. His lawyer submitted a letter to the league sometime last week notifying them of the intent to appeal, but he has since had a stroke. Did you really not hear about this? You normally seem to be on top of things.

And we should take him on his word?

Makes a big difference. The NFL was upholding suspensions. You are suggesting punishing for past actions that weren't punished.

This is still absolutely ridiculous. Suspended for what? His NFL job has nothing to do with what happened at OSU.

I just saw the clip of Stephen A. and Skip talking about it, and Stephen A. Smith is an idiot.

His attorney filed the paperwork to do so. The story seems to change every day.

Whatever the case, I don't think this is the big win that the NFLPA is looking for. People say, "well the NFL better start doing (this and that) to coaches." One, it is a completely different circumstance - the NFLPA does NOT want the NFL worrying to any extent about what guys (players or coaches) did in college. Even if the NFL started penalizing coaches, it doesn't make the impact less for players and that is the only group the NFLPA is concerned about.

Because sometimes Tressel taking the high road for no reason makes him look like a dumbass. This is one of those instances.

Tressel's suspension has King Goodell's fingerprints all over it. I think Tressel is a fraud, but what he diid at OSU should not result in sanctions by the NFL.

Goodell basically said on Mike and Mike this morning that had the Colts decided to not suspend Tressel that he would have. I really don't understand that at all. Why has Pete Carroll not been suspended?

This is not a good trend. Goodell can be such a tool.

I think the Tressel thing is completely retarded, but what does it have to do with Pete Carroll? Pete Carroll was not personally in trouble with the NCAA nor did he receive any punishment from the NCAA (or his school). The two situations have nothing to do with each other.

Had Pete Carroll not gotten up and left before the shit storm he was involved with while at USC he would have had NCAA punishments.

    That's not the same thing.

Well, you are just completely wrong. Carroll participated in the NCAA investigation (answered their questions) and was never implicated personally. The NCAA could still have placed Carroll on that "show cause" probation whether he was still there or not (see Bruce Pearl). They didn't and he could walk onto any campus today and be hired without the NCAA giving two shits.

Tressel's situation is completely different in that he was proven to have lied to the NCAA and his suspension and subsequent "retirement" were proactive punishments for his own personal misdeeds. It is highly likely that the NCAA will place some type of restriction on his hiring when they officially rule on and close the matter.
