Phils at Reds, game 3

What is wrong with Dontrelle's defense. First he doesn't get first covered for a 3-61 DP which would have ended the 1st inning with no runs. Phillips getting in the way may have been some to blame like I have seen BP do to Bruce on short flies before. Then in the 2nd, Willis throws two blooper throws to the bases, to 3rd(late) on Lee's bunt, and then to first on Polanco's chopper. Does he have a physical problem that is affecting his throws to the bases?

Lol at Stubbs. That ball Pence just hit landed in the first row. Stubbs was camped out at the wall, unfortunately he was 4 feet left of where the ball landed. smh

Rare double play that Ramon hit into in the 5th - 5-4-2-4 with both outs coming at the 2B bag.

What is up with Dusty? He plays the veterans after the NLC race is lost, says he's trying to win games. Then he let's Dontrelle go out for the 7th to face the table setters who he pitched around both to lead-off the game and walked them both. So he has 103 pitches to start the 7th, and Dusty lets him go out there to pitch around Victorino again and allow a single to Polanco? So where's the moves he should use to try and win as many games as he can and try to get the table setters out?

Off Willis, RH hitters are hitting .298 with .379 OBP, while lefties are hitting .184 with .243 OBP. Don't even send Willis out to start the inning, especially with the way he handled the first two in the first!

Quality starts(4.50 ERA max) just don't do much vs. below 1.0 ERAs of the opponents.

Walt has to tell Dusty after the game, that September is about playing the kids. Meso should get 2/3 of the starts behind the plate. Sappelt and Heisey should split left field 50/50(series by series). Alonso should play 3rd.

This is a sad team to watch right now for so many reasons. Hope Bob cleans house this offseason.

Nice piece of hitting from the MVP.

    Well there's still life....

I'm letting Stubbsy hit in that situation.

Tough assignment for Alonso to hit a 4 run walk-off HR, or just get on base as a fallback like Cairo did, and leave it to Ramon, then Lewis if it came to that.

Madson shuts the door on the Reds attempt to comeback.

Dusty did right there putting Yonder up. Even though Stubbs had two hits, it would have been a completely different story against Madson.

Janish better retire or be cut tomorrow. They can stick a mailbox out there and get better production and defense.

Its a shame that Yawnish is still playing.

Heard that Lewis was optioned to AAA. WLW reported yesterday that they plan on bringing up a slew of players when the Bats season is over.

Third baseman Juan Francisco, infielder Chris Valaika, pitchers Carlos Fisher, Jared Burton, Matt Maloney, Jeremy Horst will also make the short trip up Interstate 71. Outfielder Chris Heisey will be activated from the 15-day DL, and starting pitchers Edinson Volquez and Travis Wood are expected to join the Reds after Louisville's season ends on Sept. 5. With the exceptions of Mesoraco and Burton, all of the players have been on the big league roster this season.

He couldn't be optioned. He was outrighted to Louisville after clearing waivers and is now off the 40 man roster.
