Glory Days
been the story of this half of the season. getting fucked by the defense in one hole, and fucked by a lack of offense in the other. the only thing missing so far is the facial from being eliminated from the playoffs.wes_mantooth;877873 wrote:Ugh, our defense fucked us again -

TBone14Hello Mr. Santana. We could stand for him to hit about .400 with 10 homers in September.
-
grodtSupermannahan follows suit with a HR of his own to make it 6-1 Tribe.
-
TBone14Captain Jack will get ya high tonight.
-
Crimson streakCome on royals hang on!!!
-
Crimson streakDamnit
-
grodtGreg Holland coughs up the lead. It's tied 1-1 going to the 9th
-
royal_kCouldn't ask for much more from Gomez tonight. He did his job and the offense has woke up. Santana is killing it right now.
KC and Detwat all tied in the 9th....Go Royals! -
grodtThis KC guy is shitting the bed. Got 2 outs then proceeded to walk the bases loaded. Luckily as I typed this he was relieved and the new guy struck out Wilson Betemeit to end the inning. They're going to the 10th.
-
grodtTribe finishes off the A's 6-2. Now let's go Royals
-
TBone14Tigers finish off Royals.
Santiago walk off. -
HitsRusThe good news....Tribe. NOT. going. away.
the bad news...Minnesota can't hold leads of 3-0 and 6-3. -
hoops23I'm not worried about the division, I'm worried about continuing to see this young Tribe team grow. And thus far, they've been doing just that.
Carlos Santana is going to be a very, very, good player. This is his first full season in the bigs, coming off a serious knee injury last year.
The average is coming up, but BA isn't a good measuring stick for young players. Not everybody is going to come up and hit .280+ right off the bat. However, he's got 21 homers and will have 80+ rbi before seasons end. That's pretty damn good in this offense.
Not to mention his OBP.
In fact, he's hitting well over .300 in his last 20 or so games. He's just developing overall, and it's great to see.
I predicted the Tribe would contend his year. I was right. I'm going to predict that they win the division next season. The pitching will be there, and I feel the offense with Santana, Choo, Kipnis, Brantley, Druby, all staying healthy will be a great core.
Also, I wouldn't mind seeing the Tribe signing Fukudome to a 1 year deal. I really like this guy, and he;s showing why I was happy with the trade from the get go. -

BR1986FBSo I wake up this morning hoping to see some Tribe highlights on Sportscenter while I'm on the treadmill. Do I get ANY? No, but I sure did enjoy the highlights of that red hot Indiana/Atlanta WNBA game...smfh.

shit like that is one of the many reasons that espn sucks and I don't watch it anymore.BR1986FB;878142 wrote:So I wake up this morning hoping to see some Tribe highlights on Sportscenter while I'm on the treadmill. Booms was talking about ESPN on 92.3 this morning and how much he loathes them after the joy/glee they took in seeing Cleveland's misery during Judas' "Decision."wes_mantooth;878145 wrote:shit like that is one of the many reasons that espn sucks and I don't watch it anymore. -
BR1986FBComing into the "meat" of the pitching order (Jimenez/Carmona), gotta go for the sweep now. I know that both have been VERY inconsistent but this is where they earn their paycheck.
If they can get this down to 3.5-4.5 (2 left with OAK, 3 with KC) games back before meeting Detroit on Monday, this could get interesting. -
Crimson streakIt finally looks like Detroit is hitting a slide. We have to win every game Detroit loses. I have a feeling that seattle series is going to bite us in the end
-
OQBHoops, great post about Santana. I think he is our future DH as soon as Hafner's contract is done, his defense just isn't there (hope I am wrong though).
I was watching all bets are off yesterday and a guy called in about Cabrera's contract. We have him signed through 2013 which will most likely be the window of contention (unless these young kids WANT to stay here and be successful). But the caller suggested why not lock Asdrubal up now and give him the big contract he has deserved and keep him in a Tribe uniform for a long time. I would really hate to see him leave us for the Yanks to replace Jeter. What do you guys think about that? -
OQB2012 Opening day lineup:
Brantley CF
Kipnis 2B
Cabrera SS
Santana 1B
Hafner DH
Choo RF
Chisenhall 3B
Big Free Agent pick up LF
Marson C
Justin Masterson Opening day starter -
HitsRusJeter needs to be replaced already....the Yanks won't wait till 2014. That said, I'd try to lock up Druby if I could.....but Choo may the more pressing matter....and as I've asked earlier...and what of Sizemore?
-
OQBI agree we need to address Druby and Choo....but if I was Chris Antonetti I would go to Sizemore's agent and try to restructure his contract and maybe do a more incentive/production type of deal where you aren't paying him so much a year. IF he didn't want to do that, then I would try to shop him around see if there is a team that he wants to play for and try to get a deal done there...maybe get that right handed bat we need oh so badly.
Another question is Laporta....after watching the press conference with Acta before the game yesterday, I took away that the Indians as an organization are very very very dissapointed with him and he could be out the door as well if he doesn't start playing like the guy they projected him to be. -
Laley23We need to lock up Choo and Asdrubal along with some of the pitchers before they go to arbitration or FA. Kind of like the Rays did with Longoria. Sign them to bigger deals (but not huge deals) that seem really big because they get a huge raise and dont have to wait 2 years. Much more likely to get these guys to sign than waiting till they only have to wait a season.
