Craptastic Tribe vs Red Sox: DO OR DIE TIME
-
WooballWe don't have anyone in AAA i guess worth bringing up to be our 4th or 5th outfielder, but why do we have 6 infielders and 1 catcher that can play first base and only 4 outfielders?

And a good "quick answer", too!
Horse balls!....that's my comment on the last two games. -
WooballAfter letting another disappointing loss sink in, the Tribe's season starts tomorrow. They will have their rotation lined up.
Masterson @ BOS, Ubaldo @ TEX, Fausto @ TEX, Tomlin @ TEX, off day - then Masterson, Ubaldo and Fausto at home against the Tigers. Its going to be tough, but they have the arms lined up to give them a shot to get right back into this thing. -

It definitely looks bleak, but for some reason, I'm not too pissed.
We've let two games slip away from the AL's best team in Boston and we're now 4 GB... However, there is still A LOT of season left.
As you said, our arms are lined up to make a run. Worst case scenario, we don't win the Central. Oh well, we now have a rotation that is VERY good and we have the owner who is now ready to spend some money in this 2 to 3 year window.
We get a bat in the winter meetings, Kipnis, Carrera, Chiz, Santana, etc keep improving and our offense is good enough to be even better next season. -
BRFI like your optimism, Wooball!

TBone14Kipnis has more home runs in the last 2 nights than Kearns does all year. And more in the last 4 games than Kearns has had in 2 seasons. In fact, in the last 4 games, Kipnis' home run total has equaled 66.67% of Kearns RBI total for all season.
Chew on that -

Me too. If you can talk Hoops off the ledge than its good enough for me. -

Kipnis is going to be a very damn good player.
One thing I've been hearing is if the Chi Sox release Carlos Quentin, the Tribe may take a long look at picking him off of waivers.
Thoughts? -

Never was on a ledge. Frustration back in June doesn't = to being on a ledge. I've had many debates about the state of this team with people around here. -
hoops23Also, Kipnis is getting all the rookie love right now, but Carrera is looking like a solid ball player too.
If I'm the Tribe, I tell Grady we're not picking up his option, but we could work out an incentive based deal. I'd also look to see if there is any value for him. -
wes_mantoothwhat does quentins stats look like this year

He's either really hot or really cold though. -

yeah, but we have mostly guys that are only really cold...so it couldnt hurt. .259 would be like 3rd on our team...smh -

I'd rather have him than Ryan Ludwick, by far. -
baseball4hoops23;850402 wrote:Oh STFU. Nobody said he was going to lift the offense himself, but he does improve our lineup. Guys usually take a bit to get adjusted to a new league. Just the way it is.
Really? The dude has a shit swing. I'm not exactly sure how someone like him "improves" our lineup. He's about as good as Kearns/Buck/Duncan from what I've seen. Oh, and if his strong point is OBP, then why the hell is he batting in the 6-hole? So that we can have Kearns drive him in? A mediocre player with his strong point not being suited by the lineup. Not exactly sure how you can be optimistic about him when he's done nothing to show us he's going to make a difference in this team. Except of course, his warning track power... on the 300' part of Fenway Park.
I know guys take a while to get adjusted, but I don't know why. Plus, if that's the case, why would we pick him up this late in the season hoping for a playoff push? He's done nothing to contribute.
If he turns things around I'll be the first to tell you I was wrong, but I honestly don't see it in this guy.
Oh, and Carlos Santana... that's a whole different story. Marson should be behind the plate every night. Even then we're kind of screwed at first base but I think I'd rather have Laporta in our lineup over Santana. This dude's bat is making me cringe. -
balk14the problem with picking up a pitcher at the deadline is that they only factor into every 5th game...keeping fingers crossed for a waiver move involving a hitter!!!
-
grodtI'd very much be a fan of adding Carlos Quentin. I don't care what his stats are, unless he's hurt he's better then Austin Kearns right now. I'll be honest though I can't see the White Sox waiving him when he's still very affordable next year and he probably wouldn't make it through waivers. I'd say the earliest he's available would be this off season if the Sox decide to go young.
Also Carrera has been playing very well ever since he became an everyday starter about 15 games ago. Hitting almost .300 over that stretch with an OBP around .370. -

Too bad they'll probably lose every game 1-0 with this shitastic offense.
EDIT: My bad, they will lose each game 2-1 as Kipnis will have a solo HR each game. -
Con_AlmaI like this team for some reason. Clearly they are just and average team right now but I can see some of the personalities being here for a while.
-
vball10setOur pen has been one of our strengths all year, but it appears they're wearing down--and it doesn't help that our offense is giving them very little, if any, support...we need another bat--desperately!!!
-
Crimson streakTough loss the last 2 nights. A break here and there were looking at a sweep tonight but it didn't bounce our way. As for the tigers, there not going to stay hot forever and u love how our pitching is lined up these next 2 series. Also if this is just a sign of the future of Kipnis my god our middle infield would be the best in baseball. The future looks bright for the tribe so if we don't win the central this year I wouldn't be that pissed.

I'm approaching the ledge with this offense. Asdrubal has to have a huge game for us to win.

This. You can't rely on your pen every day. I can't get mad at Joe Smith. He has been so good. Its August 4th and that is first home run he has given up all year. -

I would take Quentin in a heartbeat, but it sounds like he wouldn't make it to the Tribe to claim. -
BRFSo....will today be the day we finally slip below .500?
