Are The Pirates Starting A Downward Spin??
-
holdingoutHave lost 6 of 10 since the All Star break. Injuries are mounting....Thoughts?
Beat 'em Bucs -
HereticIf they were losing badly, I'd say yes, but most of the losses have been by one or two. It's just a matter of needing to get over the hump and win more of these close games. And isn't it 6-of-11? I thought they won 2/3 against Houston, 2/3 against the Reds, 1/3 against the Cards and now 1/3 with one to go against Atlanta.
-
BR1986FBIf they are, they can step on the Tribe's head to boost themselves back up because the Indians have been in a free fall for quite some time.
-
thavoiceI think they just dont have the depth all around to keep up this season.

ThinthickbigredYes we are ... Its time for losing again .. we will be lucky to get one out of three against philly ...................... If the miricle does happen and we achieve 500 this year ill be very pleased ... But yes the Bears are back .. I hate Atlanta .. I just wish Pittsburgh would send down the national guard and burn the city down again

The Bears are back? Are you talking about the Bad News Bears? Why do you hate Atlanta? No one on here knew you were a fan of the Pirates until 2 days ago, why is that? -
HereticDownward spiral averted for a bit, as they split a four-game road series with one of baseball's top teams.
Now they have a three-game road series with a better team, so hopefully they can get at least one. Please tell me the Cards and Brewers play someone better than the Cubs/ASStros. -

Duh...bc it was Atlantas fault the ump missed the call. -

Eh...I dont like defending the guy...but hes made it known he was a Pirates fan for a while, even before the start of the season. -
holdingoutTough weeks for the Buccos.
-
holdingoutThe Pirates are unfortunatly spinning out of control. Last few games are not even competative. Hard to watch.
-
BR1986FB"Downward spin" has turned into "Highway to Hell"....just like the Tribe & Reds
-
killer_ewokYes....officially.
-
wes_mantoothIt is a shame....I thought they made a couple of sneaky good moves to give them a shot at the deadline.

holdingoutThis just in.........................................................................................THE PIRATES SUCK AGAIN........

Yep. The Reds went 2-4 over their roadtrip and actually vaulted the Pirates for 3rd place. Ridiculous. -
HereticGuh...
At least football's starting soon. This got sad really quickly. -
HereticI sacrificed virtually all my vCash to reverse-jinx them into a win.
Hopefully they can get the job done without me now, as I'm not gonna have the resources to bail them out for the foreseeable future. -
mhs95_06Pirates reach the epitome of ineptness and fail to help Milwaukee come back down in the chase for the NL Central crown. They get the tying run to 3rd with no out in the 9th and fail to get him in and lose the game 1-0.

I was at my mom's house during that game. I moderate my language around her. After the second first-pitch groundout, I nearly fatally choked on the words I was holding back. Thisclose from a heart attack. -
BR1986FBHard to believe that the shitty call where they (Pirates) got hosed by the ump where that guy was out by a mile at the plate sent them into this tailspin...

I don't blame the call for the talespin...more of a combination of injuries catching up to them and a few guys who were playing above their career stats reverting to normalcy. That and a full-team offensive slump. Those always suck. But pitchers like Correia and Maholm were doing far better than expected for the first half of the season and Karstens (who still is doing very good; just one horrible start against the Phillies) has been completely out of his head. They got a lot of good contributions from no-name middle relief guys like Moskos, Watson, D. McCutchen, Resop, etc. for so long and recently, they've all struggled to get guys out.
Some guys have been slumping, others were playing great early on and have tailed off, others have been hurt for large chunks of the year (Presley, Tabata, Meek, Ohlendorf, Snyder, Doumit). -

The ump is doing a game in Pittsburgh tonight.
