Reds vs Braves....Game 2

What I thought was the strongest part of Lewis' weak defensive outfield game lets him down -- his hands!

Mitch Williams is right, catching the ball w/ 2 hands is ridiculous, unless you're 5 yrs old.

I dont understand how our offense is so bad. Shit is so upsetting.

They have no patience. Like today, sinker ballers don't throw alot of pitches in the strike zone, so you take a few pitches to make them throw something in the zone. The Reds would rather just beat the 1st pitch into the ground.

Maybe Homer is taking a step to the good with that problem today after this you mention. Since then he has been plagued by shoddy defense and has pitched around or through it and given up no more runs. Just the two runs and 99 pitches thru 5 innings.

Right on cue, Fred Lewis proves my point. Takes the 1st pitch for a ball, then swings at 2 pitches not close to the zone, and Lewis weakly grounds out to 2nd.

Homer is right on the edge of being very good! It just seems like that one mistake gets him every game. It sucks to be down 2-1, when the 2 runs were driven in by a pitcher.

I know this is national tv, but when the temp is as high as it is, players don't grind. They do what they can to win, but also to get the heck out of the heat. I watched the Orioles and Jays one year where every player for the O's swung at a first pitch innings 1-4. Watch the umpire and mccann, they are standing in the shade between every batter.

And again, Gomes walks, Frazier swings at the very next pitch.

That was by Dusty's design on the hit and run trying to get the runner to 2B before another DP happened. And it worked, but Hanigan beat another one into the ground for the 3rd out.

    Eat a dick Votto!

Homer really dug in a pitched very well today. He'll be thinking about that 2-2 fastball he threw to Lowe if the Reds don't win this.

Well it was bad design, you don't hit and run after a walk. You make the batter take a strike, then put on the hit and run. Baseball 101.

I agree, usually the mistake has been happening late, but today it was early. Homer finishes with 2 runs(earned), 109 pitches, 5 hits, and 3 BB.

All I'm saying is it wasn't the hitter's fault to swing at the first pitch.

Great bunt, he can get a damn hit when the defense knows he's doing it but won't ever try it on his own.

I love how Mitch says he can get 50 bunt hits.
  • dave
    wow Edgar!
  • mhs95_06
Perfect bunt by Stubbs! Need to do that much, much more with him! And Stubbs slides between the catcher's legs!
