Midstate01Plus cash?? Doesn't he already make a ton???

Midstate01Brewers are going all in. Win it now or never. I'd expect st. Louis to do the same. Reds and pirates would be smart to stay pat, and not give up the farm for one year.

BigAppleBuckeyeThis was a 100% salary dump by the Mets, and I am THRILLED. If K-Rod finished 55 games this year (which he was on pace to easily accomplish), his contract dictates that the Mets would have to pick up his insane $17.5 million option next season. So by doing this, the Mets have tons more cash to spend on Reyes. Love it.

Yes, which is why they are sending cash. Milwaukee wasnt gonna pay the rest of the contract. So they made NY throw in part of his salary. -

Sounds like a good move by the Mets. -

I agree and disagree with this as a Pirates fan. Obviously, I don't want them to mortgage the future for one potential playoff berth, but if they can get some good complementary pieces without giving up key prospects, I'd do that. Mainly because some of their better upper-level minor league pitchers (Rudy Owens, Jeff Locke, Bryan Morris) aren't having good years and their major league staff is loaded with guys performing above expectations.
Jeff Karstens and Paul Maholm are performing WELL above their career stats. While they've fallen off in the last month or so, Correia and Morton have been very pleasant surprises. You can't count on a closer going 26-26 in saves on a yearly basis. And a lot of middle relievers like McCutchen, Watson, Moskos, etc. have given surprisingly solid efforts for at least a few weeks (McCutchen all year with the exception of a rough week or so, Watson and Moskos for their first couple of weeks before falling off somewhat).
Don't mortgage the future, but if you can get some pop in the line-up for cheap, do it.
