That is where they get into trouble -- trying to do too much, and not doing it fundamentally correct. You get a lead-off double, be sure you have two productive ABs after that and get the run in. If one of those grounders goes thru, then then maybe you get more!

Pretty good AB from Hanigan there.

    Wait a second....

    Brandon.

PLEASE do not try to open this game up with one swing. Just drive one to right center.
  • wildcats20
    Damn that was filthy.

Poop, just poop. Now votto bats with no one on again.

Just slowed that down, looked like a tie. Stubbs must not have had much of a lead though, he got to second about the same time Volquez was getting to third.

Yeah, I kind of thought he was in there.

    Speaking of Big Mac...

Has he EVER tested positive for a banned substance?? I don't care about how he acted/what he said in Congress, did he EVER test positive?

And I still think that ball from last night was foul.

I don't think it crossed the bag in fair territory.

Tony LaRussa said the play by Rolen yesterday that nearly saved the game was maybe the best play he's ever seen....in over 5,000 games.

Don't blame Janish, he still had a boner from drawing his first walk in a month. It was hard for him to bend over.

Atrocious angle we got from home plate camera.

    It was easily fair

I don't think there was any question it was fair also. Didn't it bounce almost next to the bag?

Tim Kirkjian just said that a while back that he said Brooks Robinson and his 16 GG was the best fielding third baseman of all-time, and after that comment in tv one of Robinson's old teammates called in and said sorry Tim, I love Brooks, but Rolen is a better defensive player.

    I can't watch this anymore.

I think it's clear that Volquez is the worst of the five in the rotation. Now I don't know what you do with him, but I'm taking Arroyo, Cueto, Leake, Bailey, and Wood over him and I want to see what Dontrelle Willis has in him. Yeah I know, he was 17-6 with a low 3 ERA a couple years ago, but he's clearly not the same pitcher and hasn't been all season.
