Boo interleague play

Inter-league play is here to stay. The average attendance tells the decision makers such.

I find it sad that the dude is so bad defensively that he cant find his way on the field.

Plenty of guys have played with a bad arm/shoulder. Pujols did it all of last year

Yeah, but hafner is made of glass....I am not joking, he would be injured the first time he plays field

Pujols' shoulder is not as fucked up as Hafners. Hafner has had multiple shoulder injuries/surgeries over the years. His shoulder really is glass.

His shoulder injury does not allow him to throw the ball. Therefore he can't play defense.
  • jordo212000
Hafner didnt play much defense before the shoulder problems either though.

Back in the day, when pitchers could actually hit the ball, it was obviously not a problem to have them bat and it made sense.
I don't find it any more "pure" of a game in the NL TODAY because they have to work around an automatic out since pitchers have become specialists and can't hit shit.

Zach Britton is hitting .714. 2-2 with a HR and 2 runs scored today.

    2-3 now after a strikeout.

He split time at first....but he was never very good on defense.

But he did play 1st until he suffered the elbow and shoulder injury. The fact is, I wouldn't risk it just for a regular season series.

World Series? Maybe. But his defense would lose us whatever he gave us offensively probably.

I just found it funny that he started out commenting on "snobby NL fans" and then proceeded to make a snobby AL fan post about how boring NL ball is. The math fail just made it better.

Well if you add kearns and Gomes in the lineup with pitcher it would be 1/3 of the outs

    Why stop with the DH?

Let's have designated runners, too. We can line up former college sprinters next to home plate, set to take off with the crack of the bat. For that matter, why make the great hitters play defense at all - lets's follow the AL logic and have separate rosters for hitters and fielders!

and 95% of the league is hitting under .100

Hell, with this being the new Year of the Pitcher, it seems like 95 percent of position players are batting under .250. In today's Pittsburgh-Washington game, the Nats had one guy batting over .250 in their starting line-up and he was at .260. Morse and Nix also are above that (Morse at about .300 and Nix at .275 or so), but they were just pinch-hitting.

And with Pittsburgh, McCutchen (.295) and Presley (about 20-30 at bats) were the only guys with decent averages. Walker and Jones were both right around .250 and the rest were in the low .200s.
  • ts1227
I think half of the Tribe lineup is under .250 lol

DH pretty whack. Also, has Fausto Carmona never ran a sprint in his life? Good golly.

DH or no DH, the AL once again dominated the NL this season.

Getting closer, though. 131-121, which is the tightest its been since 2004.

To me....that its pretty damn even. Although, I would rather get rid of interleague play and go back to balanced schedules

Interleague play should be the all star game and world series.

If they would do the situation where they blow up the divisions, there may be MORE interleague play as part of going back to a balanced schedule. (fact is it's not going to go anywhere as long as it continues to draw at the gate). There would basically be 1 series against everyone, interspersed throughout the year.

Yeah, I have heard that. Not a fan at all. I am ok with a "rivalry" type series, but what normal fan gives a shit about a cleveland/arizona match up?!
